Steve has to share the ball to many players while Kobe usually has the ball half of the time. It is not fair to compare them like that. Chemisty is the key and I really dont think Kobe will mess well with other rockets like steve does. Steve is quicker and he is still learning. Who know how good he will be come someday while Kobe is around his prim IMHO. No deal for sure for me.

so here is lets look at the stats for a sec.So francis set his career high in points at 44.Kobes career high in points is 56 and that is in three quarters.Just this season kobe has scored 40 or more points 6 times.

Francis is a point guard correct
Kobe is not a point guard he is a shooting guard
Now kobe is averaging 7.1 assists and he is 8th in the league.Francis is not even in the top 10 in assists. He is averagin 6.3 assists.
Francis should be right up there with the point guards in assists. How kobe is above him, nash, baron is pretty incredible if you think about it.

    Kobe 27.7 points,7.1 assists,7.70 rebounds,
francis 23.4 points, 6.3 assists and 6.2 rebounds.

Kobe is the only player in the league with these stats. Not one player has over 25 points to go along with over 5 assists and 5 rebounds.Kobe is not just a little bit better then francis.

Francis outdid kobe one night and now you ask this dumb question.Where were you when kobe set an nba record for three pointers last week.

    This would never happen.

KOBE is a better player. He is the best player in the NBA!!! He is really the greatest. If the Rockets could get him, I would trade anybody for him.

But it would never happen, so I am sticking with Steve Francis! Just because he's more exciting!

the main reason i dont like kobe is cause he crys like a little girl and thinks he's jordan, his stats are there like i said but everytime i see him play he forces a lot of dumb shots more than steve does and is cocky as hell i wish kobe got the s*** knocked out of himself someday cause i can not stand him. :D

this is such an asinine thread. hell why not ask if people would trade griffen for webber or mobley for mcgrady.

the better question would be would you trade francis for marbury, nash, payton or bibby.

    payton: no, too old

bibby: yes. better team player. if you switch him and steve right now the kings are worse and the rockets probably about the same/slightly better. defintely more team oriented

nash: probably not. only because of age. but again, if you switch the two players, mavericks are worse and the rockets sligthly better for this year.

marbury: negligible difference in talent so doesnt really matter. marbury gets his stars/teammates involved better but more of a knucklhead than francis.

fanboy, what the hell are u puffin on the rockets would do worse without steve. Plus everyone around here loves steve we only complain about his game cause we want him to get even better, even though he is better then 95% of the nba. Whats real scary is that steve is this good and has not even reached his prime yet, now that is a very scary thing for the other 28 teams that dont have him.:D

Let's be honest, if we trade Francis for Kobe, Yao for Shaq and with a team of Kobe, Mobley, Posey, EG and Shaq, we would probably win a 3-peat ourselves.

But we even have this kind of discussion is a compliment to our players' progress in itself.

    :)

If you think we have a problem now with getting the ball out of the Guards hands, it would be twice as difficult with Kobe!

    HELL NO!!!!!

And not for anybody else in the league neither. Francis is hands down the better player here. Could that faker put up the same numbers over here, hell no. Faker and Mobley would be fighting over the ball (verbally). We don't need that ****.

the results of the poll are sad and disturbing. it shows that this BBS is packed with homers who only see things with a serious blue and red rockets tint in their glasses, and can't provide any objective opinion or discussion.

i love steve. he's a great player, and i'm happy that he's a rocket. if you wouldn't rather have kobe on your team than steve, however, you really just don't have a clue. there is no point in trying to argue with you, because....you just ain't got a clue.

one more thing.....would you guys trade moochie for kobe? what about griffin for kobe? actually, they couldn't afford to trade griffin for kobe, because that would leave us too thin at the 4 spot, right?

i'm sorry for being a bit of a smartass, but i'm just a little dissapointed that rockets fans aren't a bit more knowledgable.

Would you trade Mobley for Fisher?
Would you trade Posey for Fox?
Would you trade EG for Horry?
Would you trade Yao for Shaq?
Would you trade Rudy for Phil Jackson?

Would you trade Kobe for Francis?

Hell no. MVP calibre players won't be traded for an all star by me.

    Get over yourself.

You, of all people, should be one of the last people to be commenting on "objective opinion or discussion".

Oh, and I wouldn't trade for Bryant, because he's not as good as a lot of you think he is.

As good as Kobe steaks are, Francis is much more valuable.

Oh, we're talking about Kobe Bryant? Stop being a homer.
