I really dont care that his fg% go down as long as he's aggressive, but battier takes a long time to get rid of the ball.

He is unselfish, but he lacks confidence to do much more than that. He scored around 5 points a game in the playoffs on the road, when we needed everyone to step up. Poor guard play can't be entirely responsible, because guys like Luis stepped up against Portland when Yao was being fronted. I don't except that much from Shane but there is a big difference on how he did at home vs on the road in the playoffs.

See, thats my biggest problem about Shane. Most posters think its because of the high lotto pick we gave away that we're still paying for now, but its not. When the big guns have gone down or is not as effective, the role players need to step up. Thats what they're suppose to do. No one expects shane to score 20ppg, but if you're a leader, young team on the road, and you're the 2nd highest paid player and highest drafted, 5ppg wont cut it no matter what kind of defense you play. If he was going to lock kobe down to 15ppg , thats different. Young players look at this and take note. They may not say anything, but in the face of adversity when the vets need to show leadership and some calm, he's never stepped up. Whether it was Utah when he didn't have to guard a premier wing or it was La on the road. Thats why i think Ariza was a good signing. If he doesn't step up in the 3rd qt on the road with those 13 pts, La doesn't win game 4 and its a different series. That showed me he can be more than just battier v.2. When its your time, you have to take advantage and over his history, Battier has shown he can't or wont. Would i trade him for Big Z? Probably not because i don't want to get older and slower, but if the rockets want any chance of being in 2010 free agents market, they need to dump him and get a young player back or a draft pick or both.

if we could get big z then i say why not.... We are in need of a big man and it would not hurt at all to pick up a guy like big z to come off the bench and start when yao is healing.
