I think it would be an interesting trade for the HR, because then we could work with more offensive threats with BW and ZR in the SL with CH being an energy guy off the bench along with LS. And if RA keeps playing the way he does and the other RA continues to give AB minutes then the HR would improve in the WC but only if YM and TM show up each night with the team playing its best, because in the WC, the competition is tough. DM would do well to make this trade for RA in order to bring a scary offensive lineup of YM, ZR, TM, BW, and RA with AB, LH, CH, and LS off the bench. It'd be sad to see SB, SF, and MJ go, but the HR need to shake something up and ZR could possibly be a catalyst for a major turnaround, then again, ZR isn't necessarily the hardest working guy and could send the HR into a worse state, in which case players like TM and YM may become unhappy. We could lose RA and DM might not look like the genius we thought he was. And with the tough WC we can't risk "experimental" ideas. I think the HR will be just fine when TM returns if RA can continue his excellent play and not revert to his brick-laying self, and as long as the other RA keeps AB ahead of SJ and MJ, we seem to be heading in a nice direction. If CH and LS can keep up their great energy (But please CH fix those damn free throws) and if SB could just knock down his three pointers more consistently, we'd be great. Throw in a dash of LH for some good shooting and BW with a great post presence and rebounding, I'd say the HR could be gaining ground in the WC soon. lol
Shane Battier = Super role player + 3rd option (of what?) Zach Randolph = Microfractured knee Morey: "You can blow me biatch. I wont trade my Super Batman for a cripple."
its 3 in the morning. is it bad i saw the title and thought "why the hell would we trade Battier for Zeljko Rebraca?"
The Knicks traded Francis to Portland before this season to get Randolph. Your idea here involves the Knicks taking Francis back and getting rid of Randolph. Do you see the problem here? Regardless, I wouldn't do this trade because of the size of Randolph's contract. Randolph's salary for the next 4 seasons: $13,333,333 $14,666,666 $16,000,000 $17,333,333 Aside from that, I do support using Battier as a trade piece to bring in a player that better suits Adelman's style of play. I like Battier and his work ethic but I am tired of his shortcomings.
I don't know if Randolph is really a cancer. His teammates seem to like him well enough, even though he is immature at times. The guy works pretty hard (he is actually in pretty good shape, not fat. He just has skinny legs and not much explosion. He also fights very very hard for rebounds). On offense, ZR will fit next to YM since ZR can hit some jumpers and pick up plenty of garbage points/rebounds like he did next to Curry last night. The issue will be defense. Can a team with two relatively slow front court player work well?
LOL, many guys said the improvement of Portland because they got rid of ZR. I wonder how ZR think of these words. Is he a cancer of any team?
It took me longer to read this then to read my thesis. Stick to abbreviation when its the norm.. but LS? YM? BW? Anyway back to the topic, i would not mind a mobile PF that grabs rebounds and scores from 18ft. But the defense......... I will do it, even if the defense sucks, as it will help Yao and Tmac as they do not need to play big every night to keep the rox competitive. Hence keeping them fresh.
RA is the worst nickname ever.... AB and SB, however, are the most clever. i know it's confusing to me too.
The case against Zach Randolph historically has been a bit too overplayed, though not often unfair. He is a very good player. No one has ever doubted his talent, nor his consistency. But it works both ways. If you want a lot of bellyaching in the locker room, a player who rarely accepts blame for his misgivings, and one who has absolutely no conscience for his defensive failings, then yes, make that trade. Me, I prefer having Shane Battier.
