Well, CC Sabathia in the last year of his contract got traded for Matt LaPorta and some other prospects. I don't know anything about the guy, except that he's a AA guy right now with a career 1.000 OPS so far and 30 HRs in 350 career at bats. That's a starting point to get a sense of the market. I would imagine, if we WERE to look at trading Oswalt, he'd fetch more than that (if he gets healthy, of course). He's signed for several more years and has looked better in June. If you could get a legitimate top-tier prospect (and maybe some other 2nd tier prospects), do you move him? I would target Tampa Bay and the Yankees - both in a tough battle with the Red Sox. The Yankees have ego issues that might make him appealing, and Tampa Bay is having a one-a-decade type season for them. I'd also look at the Mets and Phillies and pit them against each other. No idea what kinds of prospects any of these teams have.
I say yes, make the move.. if you can get back more than what Sabathia just fetched. La Porta is a pretty sweet prospect from what I've heard the last couple of years
I think Tampa would salivate over Roy Oswalt. I love Roy...but I'd listen to what's offered very carefully.
