Jiri is a good, smart, efficient player. He would be a great fit here. Didn't he log minutes at the point for Boston last year?
Howard has a team option in 06/07. Even if he decided to not resign with that team, with the qualifying offer year, they'd still have him for 4 more years. Gee, thanks. Why'd you have to bring Marion into the discussion?
Haha, as a fellow trade proposal lover, I too wish that teams had no other choice but to trade with us (see: TMac) all the time. I remember pondering T-Mac a few months before the season ended when I saw he was really slumping, and I (rightfully so) only heard about how the only thing Orlando would take is Yao, and even that is a stretch. But once TMac pulled the chair from under Weisbrod's legs, we we were able to put together the best duo in the league.
I would only trade the Bokeness if we got a player of his caliber. Dirk Nowitski comes to mind. But we may need to include some one else, or at least a second rounder.
I kind of like reading trade scenarios, not the ludicrous ones, but trade proposals that make some sense. How about a Real Men on Genius variation for you guys: (Real Men of Genius.) Today we salute you, Mr. Message Board Trade Proposal Lover. (Mr. Message Board Trade Proposal Lover.) You spend your days poring over rosters and salaries, thinking, "Hey, those guys don't belong on that team." (They got too many Power Forwards) You're an expert on rationalization and have studied psychology so you know exactly what a GM is willing to do. (Phoenix wants to trim salary.) And even when you get criticized for your threads, you can't just be stopped. (Why you clicking on this thread now.) So we salute you Mr. Message Board Trade Proposal Lover. One things for certain, without you, there'd be a lot less posts on this board. (Mr. Message Board Trade Proposal Lover.)
I disagree. He's actually an above average defender, with potential to be better. He's long and lean, and has superb quickness. Unlike most Euro's, he puts out a serious effort on D, as well. I, personally, am not so infatuated with Josh Howard that I'd want to take back the remaining 3 years and roughly $35million on Eshmeyer and TAW's contracts.
1) I don't see us trading Boki. For one, he isn't worth much trade wise b/c he hasn't done anything in the league yet, he does have some talent thus is worth more to us letting up see if he will pan out into a role player than trading him. 2) Howard is the better player, for sure, but not really the better fit. Boki did improve to .365 from the 3 line last year, Howard shot 30%--really bad considering he plays for the Mavs where a lot of open shots are created. Also, Howard is actually about 3 months older than Boki with at least as much seasoning (4 years ACC play prior to his rookie season where he got 24MPG) versus Boki having 2 very low minute seasons for the Rockets plus mostly B level and junior Euro play. In sum I think there is a much better chance Boki becoming an excellent outside shooter--what the doctor orders around Yao/Tmac--than Howard. I think Howard is actually closer to his ceilling, and decent all-around swingmen who are at best ordinary shooters are easy to acquire via FA. So in sum I'd rather just give Boki one more year than trade him and a 1st rounder for Josh Howard. Tmac and JJ will eat the bulk of the 2/3 minutes and just let Sura and Boki take the back-up minutes. And if Boki fails miserably in this role, send those minutes to Padget and maybe a resigned A. Griffin this year and look for a better player than either Boki and Josh H next year via the MLE or even look before the trade deadline using the TE or possibly MT or Jawon as bait.

Boki showed heart when it counted most. That's why we like him. He still has potential and we know he has some heart. That's worth taking a look at.
Sean Elliot, former NBA all-star forward (in the NBA Playoffs 2004): "Nachbar is showing me something here!" Nachbar took the ball to the goal and played extremely well in the playoffs, Jim Jackson better be careful because this kid is a playa. No trades for this kid IMO.
You are wrong. Ask yipengzhao, he watches the Celtics. In fact, watch any Celtics fan. Effort is one thing. Ability is another. I don't think any of the proposed deals has us taking on BOTH TAW and Eschemeyer, it's one or the other.
The Rockets have until the Oct 31 of year 2005 to pick up Boki's 4th-year option. He is under guaranteed rookie contract in the coming season.
Maybe I should talk to someone who watches the Celtics, because you obviously don't. http://www.nba.com/celtics/schedule/playoffs2004_headToHead_20040412.html http://www.interbasket.net/players/welsch.htm http://nbadraft.net/profiles/jiriwelsch.htm You said he was by far the worst defender in the NBA. He isn't. He's an above-average defender with the potential to be better.
YES!! I'm surprised hardly anyone else has commented on this. I guess they haven't seen him play. I like Nachbar and still think he'll develop into a very solid rotation guy, but I'd trade him for Welsch in a second. I would love to run he and McGrady in the backcourt(together) for 10-15 minutes a game. If I was the GM, I'd definitely be in the market for Welsch.
He's under contract for this year, but in terms of his team option for his 4th season, it "must be exercised by October 31 after the player's second season" Which is coming up in about 7 weeks.
