Gerald Green has no foundation. For all the people saying he's got talent, I'd like to ask what those talents are. There's dunking, and then there's nothing else.

Luther's got a boatload of weaknesses that are unacceptable for a guard (ballhandling, defense, turnovers), but Green's even worse than Luther in all those respects. I've been watching him since his first game in Boston. I heard the rockets were looking to trade up for him and I wanted to know what we were missing. It isn't much. Luther and Green are finished products at this point. Luther's better.

After Green's awesome birthday cake dunk tonight, it's going to be hard to pry him loose. What team in their right mind would trade away a guy who can blow out a candle that is on top of the rim and dunk at the same time? Not to mention a guy who can go between the legs without shoes! The question we should be asking is, can we trade Luther for James White? Fenerbahçe Ülker could use a shooter, so they just might bite on a deal. The only roadblock would be matching the salaries. Anyone know the conversion rate on Turkish lira?

Hell no. There is a reason Green can't get any minutes even on absolute garbage teams... You think he actually would have a shot at developing into anything here even if he did have any potential left?

I can't believe "yes" is winning this poll. Are there really that many blind casual fans on this board? Are you really that desperate for athleticism that you'll pick a guy just because he can win a dunk contest?

If you think Luther Head has a poor bball IQ, just wait until you see Green...

I pick Head over Green and it's not even close.

But, Green is pretty young and might develop with better coaching and mentoring. I'd be fine trading Snyder for him, letting Green get some garbage time for a year or two, and if he develops then that's good. Give him a small contract and a few years and see how he plays in practice.

Rockets actually tried to trade up a little bit to snag Green but had no luck.

Of course Gerald Green is going to be inconsistent.. he's played for some of the worst teams the last 2 years to his credit. I do believe he can get better with a better coach and different system.

But in the end..we don't need him.. I would rather have Luther (right now) However I do think we could find a spot for him for someone else though.

Yeah it simply re-affirms the fact that these kids are just greedy and all for the bling-bling and early groupie action.
If he truly cared for basketball and truly desired to be a great basketball player, he would've gone to college (OSU), where he could've had a chance to not only develop his skills, but get an early spotlight on him before he goes on to the NBA.
Yes, I felt betrayed by him after he signs a letter of intent to OSU, then ditched the school suddenly for the NBA. Of course, I would think differently of him if he stayed at OSU instead :)

Bucks, Wolves, whatever. That just shows how unnoticeable he is outside of All-Star weekend.

He could have needed the money. He does have a family to look after also. Lots of NBA players come from poverty so I don't blame the guys that made the jump out of high school. You never know what can happen in a year or two. Maybe Green injuries his knee and never gets drafted out of OSU. You can say they're greedy all you want but you need money to survive in this world.

Yes, I realize most of them are poor, but when you get a full scholarship ride on basketball, you take it. Its not like you're losing anything-in fact, it can only help you. Take the scholarship, just atleast play for a year, establish notoriety in the college scene, then ride that momentum into the NBA draft, and then, you would be making a lot more money than you would otherwise

Yeah but a lot can happen in one year. Injuries, personal problems, grades, you never know. You say you're not losing anything but you are. You're losing the opportunity to make guaranteed NBA money to support you're family NOW. College isn't for everyone.

Take the guaranteed money. It is MILLIONS of dollars after all. Or, go to college and risk dropping out of the first round? There goes the guaranteed money.

I agree, you dont EVER pass up a chance to bank millions!

Your telling me you'd pass up MILLIONS of dollars for a SCHOLARSHIP, must less, a sub-par team in the Big 12 at a university in stillwater, oklahoma?

    WE TODD IT!!!

Oh yeah, I'd rather give up L.Head for Mike Miller. Green would be great to watch, but Miller wouldn't be as risky and would probably make us a lot better.

Don't talk about things you don't know ANYTHING about.
FYI, we were ranked as high as #4 that year, and was beating ranked opponents like Pittsburgh and Texas......before we fell apart. Just imagine if we had a Gerald Green on the team. But sub-par?
2 final fours, 10 straight NCAA Tourney bids, a couple of sweet Sixteens in a span of 10 years and one of the most historic and quality sports arena in college? And FYI, we were the first team in NCAA basketball history to win back-to-back championships. Yes, we may not be in the league of a UCLA or Duke or NC, but we have one of the most historic coach in all of sports and one of the most historic (hence, HISTORIC Gallagher-Iba Arena) arenas in all of college sports
Yes, we've kind of dropped off-but hell, look at Kentucky! And btw, we just beat Texas A&M.
Anyways, if you knew what you were talking about, you would be smart to stay in college when you're given a FULL SCHOLARSHIP, then when you're ready to go to the pros, you'll be making twice that amount after four years-atleast.

In 4 years, these things can happen while enjoying your "wonderful full scholarship" in the "wonderful state" of oklahoma:

    career altering injury
    loss of draft status
your poor sick mother who can't afford medicine dies
your alcoholic coach decides to quit

    just to name a few.

your right about one thing, osu has dropped off quite a bit in recent seasons.

as everyone says, you're r****ded not to try and get your draft pick now when you're hyped. especially a dumb person like gerald green. he went to dobie for three years (my high school) and then gulfshores for two....5 years for high school. this guy is dumb.....but man is he athletic.....only reason why he went to gulfshores was because he was gonna get cut off dobie cause he couldn't make his high school grades. if he went to osu, he would've flunked out his freshman year in college and then what......not make anything.....

this guy isn't the smartest of all guys, but the smartest thing he has ever done is skip college, go to the nba, and win a slam dunk contest.......
do you think it would've been better if lebron went to college when he would've obviously gotten the full ride, etc. as well? same with amare, KG, etc? the only players that should go to college first are ones that should hype themself up some more....etc....(gerald green was a first rounder, he was hyped up enough and therefore was a legit move to go)

I'd consider it luck that they didn't.

Take a full "scholarship" over guarenteed millions? Lord why? There are just as many busts who went to school as there are who jumped straight from high school. You can get injured at either place. But only one route will put guarenteed millions in your pocket if you get drafted high enough (which he did).

If you give me $1.4M and I bomb, can't I still afford to pay to go to any school I want? This "don't take the money" argument kills me. I don't know too many people that would leave millions (plural) on the table for a what...20-30K per year scholarship.
