    *He's out 3 to 5 weeks.
*Blazers 1 win 5 losses since his injury
    *Dropping fast from playoff contention
*Player option for around 3 million, ie likely an expiring contract. Shooters like Kapono and Carroll have gotten full MLE deals.

    Rockets can offer two things.
1)A healthy player in either Head or Snyder
2)2008 1st round pick. Portland are loaded with young talent in their frontcourt and have an unsigned 1st round 30th pick from 2006 in Joel Freeland who's another PF/C. Freeland wanted a contract this year so they're not going be able stash him O/S much longer or would they want an 8th player on their roster who plays at the 4/5 especially when they need another PG. Luckily Rockets need a third option big so they trade down their pick.

I have seen Gerald Green play for almost 8 years. There is not a dumber player in organized basketball. He has no concept of team defense nor footwork/positioning on that end of the floor. The guy barely breaks the rotation for the worst team in the league in his 3rd season. Honestly, would any of you guys be proposing this transaction if the kid went to school in Pierre, South Dakota? Luther Head will have a 10 year career in the league. Gerald Green is making his last pertinent league appearence tonight in the slam dunk contest. He is Harold Minor, except that Minor only needed 4 years to graduate from high school as opposed to six. I hope he has invested his $$$ well.

    Interesting argument.

    I love James Jones too.

So let's do Mike James, Snyder, Novak, Francis, and Head to Portland for D. Miles, James Jones, the rights to Joel Freeland, and a swap of first rounders next year, theirs for ours. If not, we can throw in our first rounder for their second and a future first from them.

Head may not be great, but Green is friggin' terrible. Yeah he's athletic, but that's all he is. I'd play Snyder over Green.

Instead of going for Gerald Green, you guys should be scratching your head on how to get back Mike Harris!

    Mike Harris > Gerald Green.

Thank god the fans aren't running this team.... Gerald is a terrible player, you can trade Snyder for his sorry ass if you really want to. I hope we don't get someone like him, the uninformed fans will be begging to put him in games....

Great, a semi-rotation player (head) for gerald green, a guy who rarely plays for a lottery team. All green has is athleticism, which we could use, but Head's shooting is needed more.

Gerald Green is still, well.....green. He just turned 22 a few days ago. Head is Novak with a little dribble. We need more young, athletic players. Green is 6-8 to Luther's 6-2. Green can actually get to the rim. Luther can't. It's just not a fair comparison. With decent coaching Green can learn defense. Regardless of coaching Luther will always be defensively deficit because of his small stature and frame.

What I said in the random trade thread, where this actually belongs, is this: Young, talented, athletic players I have on my radar and who might be obtainable include Gerald Green, Antoine Wright, Maurice Ager, J.R. Smith, Peteri Koponen, Josh McRoberts, Zaza Pachulia, Fran Vasquez and C.J. Miles (although not necessarily in that order).

Regardless of what management thinks of Green, IMO they should be trying to add one or more of these players to replace our older, slower players.

I agree with your post almost entirely. GG has at least one more contract in the NBA left. He is as talented a player as he is an IQ challenged player. He just might be Nellie material?

Eight years? So you've been watching Green since he was 14. Interesting. You must have a very strong interest in his career.

I can't believe 77 of you voted Head over Green. The amount of talent inside of Green is off the charts. He hasn't even started to play well and has shown some flashes.

Best comparison is J.R. Smith. Loads of talent, but a huge knucklehead. I'm sure after some discipline we can make him smarter... :D Thats the only con about him.

But Green's value is far less than Head's! If we want Green so bad we can sign him for cheap or trade Snyder and a pick for him. No need to throw away a rotational player on trash.

And Green won't play under Nellie. Wright > Green, Wright only gets what... 8mpg?

I wouldnt do the deal...as much talent and potential Green seems to have he has the stromile swift syndrome. I saw him play up close at the summer league this past year where he should have easily dominated the competition but he was not even caring and felt that he was entitled to his shot and didnt work hard at all on defense. i understand he is a houston kid but if he hasnt been able to get meaningful minutes in Minnesota one of the worst, if not the worst team in the league there is something definitely wrong. And we do need shooters on this team to help yao and tracy, thats what luther is...thats what gerald green isnt.

the kid has been in the league long enough now and has played on teams that easily could give him 30 mins a game to help him develop but they havent and he hasnt shown any sort of consistency at all in his 3 year career. even if he was a high school kid most of these guys who made it in the league had started to show some sort of level of consistency by their third year. Hasnt happened yet to green, makes me wonder whether or not it will happen.

i would rather have something one who will help the team now, rather than someone who *could* help the team even better in the future.
