If it is Flowry + Filler for Melo, you take it and run. Filler list: Hill Thabeet TWill Flynn Budinger + D-League scrubs
Who would want to play with Melo 2k12 version? The Ball Hog Black Hole? You'd need 6 basketballs because Melo would be shooting the other five as soon as he touched them! That said, he can score the ball so it makes it tempting...just not for Lowry tempting. I believe D'Antoni will go before Amare or Melo.
Denver got their two top scorers, Andre Miller and a quality bench player as a result in the trade. NY got Melo and Billups and gave away Billups to sign Chandler. There is a reason NY always sucks. NY could have had Amare, Melo, Galinari, Felton and Lawson and their 2012 and 2014 pick if they would have been a little patient. Bad clubs are just bad. Mr Pringles and Dolan deserve each other.
It's amazing how good the team chemistry can be when there's no prima donna on the team. George Karl even went so far as to admit he enjoys coaching this team much more after Melo left.
I'd haveta pull the trigger on Klow+ for Melo... not a fan of Melo... but couldnt turn down the opportunity to grab a bluechip player.... Id offer any configuration of the rest of the team first though.... If we could keep Klow, Sam and either SG (KM or Clee) - thats a strong nucleus to build on....
I would trade KMart+Scola+Flynn+Picks to Orlando, Orlando sends Howard to NY, NY sends Melo to Houston.
I don't think I would even give up that package (the Pau Gasol package) for Melo, to be honest. Kevin Martin by himself is playing about as well as Melo this year and his contract is better.
Don't kid yourself. Karl never wanted Melo to leave and he repeatedly said it. Yes they are better this year than last because Melo was holding them hostage but Melo was the best player on some really good Nugget teams.
I absolutely would not. Lowry is a young, relatively inexpensive, pass-first pg who can rebound and play defense... Lowry's a keeper, Melo's a cancer
Not a Melo fan at all. He's a great player, but seems like he'll always be that player who scores 30+pts for a losing team.
The Nuggets were a really, really good team, they weren't being carried by Melo. They got good at the same time as they got him, and they're proving it now. Correlation is not causation. They didn't start winning because of Melo, they started winning because they were an all-around strong ball club. Melo didn't hurt, he's a good player, but he's not half as good as many people think he is.
I'd do it without hesitation. I've been high on Lowry ever since he was backing up Brooks, but I just don't see him being/becoming as great a point guard as many of yall think he'll be or is. I think he has great hustle and is a good passer, but he still can't create his own shot and being a star, that's something you HAVE to have (unless your last name is Allen), especially for a Point Guard. So i'd definitely trade Lowry and whoever else for Melo. I feel this upcoming draft has some solid point guards that Morey would be able to snag (just one, don't gotta go all Kahn on us lol). I'd really love for us to get Kendall Marshall if we wound up dealing Lowry for Melo. But that's just me, this team may not necessarily need Melo, but we desperately need someone that'll take us to the next level and sorry to say, but Lowry isn't going to take us anywhere.
Other than the fact that their top two scorers and a PG that gives them 7 assists a game came from the Melo trade, you are right.
