Harden has had a superior coach than Love has had. Love's coach kept on sabotaging the team by, for example, playing JJ Barea while sitting Ricky Rubio in the 4th quarter.

It might be easier to build a more complete team around Love and Howard than Harden and Howard. Love is a much more unique talent than Harden.

The biggest boon from this might be forcing Houston to adopt a more systematic offense. With an elite offensive wing like Harden, we're letting him handle and iso and pass - essentially the entire offense flows through him as the primary ballhandler.

Love is not going to be that guy. He might post up a few times and iso if need be, but he's is much more of a off-ball player with exceptional vision. This will make the Rockets a lot more dangerous in the playoffs when teams can't hone into one player ala Portland with Harden.

Lin/MLE Shooter(Korver/Thompson/Green/etc..)/Parson/Love/Dwight sounds better to me than Bev/Harden/Parsons/Jones/Dwight on account of ball movement alone

The solution to having a team hone in on your ball carrier threat, is to get rid of them, and instead go to zero ball handling threats? What The ****?

So we ignore that OKC has 2, sometimes 3, the Spurs have like 4 of them, Miami has 2, the Clippers added Collison so trapping CP3 wasn't doom for their team even with Crawford on top? You can not win in this league without an elite shot creator, and even then he needs additional ball handlers/shot creators.

Team traps Harden, so let's replace Harden with nobody? I really have to ask this again, WHAT THE ****?!?!?

Ball handling guards are easier to come by than guys like Love. Every year you can pick up guys like Monta Ellis, Aaron Afflalo, Jamal Crawford etc in FA and trades who can make up 80% of what Harden does. If Harden was a complete player, we would be having a different discussion.

What's the replacement cost of Love? Who can rebound, pass, post up, and shoot threes the same way he can?

I talked about Portland "honing" onto Harden because of the way he plays and his effect on the team dynamic. When he is in the game, he absolutely dominates the ball. Unless Harden changes for the better, his offensive dominance is going to be a deterrent to the Rockets beating the top teams who can hone onto somebody like this and pick apart an offense so reliant on one man. With a guy like Love, my hope is that he will inspire a system in which everybody is involved in the offense.

“I always think about our guys and their stats,” said coach Gregg Popovich. “They really get screwed sometimes, playing for me. If you win 62 games, and some of them are by a decent margin, I bet our guys play fewer fourth quarter minutes than most good players on any team. I’d be willing to bet that. It hurts their stats, without a doubt, but luckily I’ve got players who don’t think about that.”

Harden and Love do think about stats!!!

    Bev
    Lin
    Parsons
    Love
    Howard

More ball movement, more perimeter defense and the best frontcourt in the league. Don't know how far they could go, but that team would be fun to watch

Apologies to you, for the name calling.

You really are one of my favorite posters, but this schtick you are pulling is very irritating. Just go back to sexual metaphors CH.

Jesus Titty****ing Christ, this is a stupid thread. Trade Harden + other assets to get Love? WTF man? Howard and Love together is not a championship contender. Harden doesn't play D at the 2, and you want to trade him for a guy who doesn't play D at the 4, great idea...

Now that the Rockets roster and the offseason market is shaping up, perhaps it is time to revisit the Harden for Love (plus other pieces) idea.

Going into the offseason, the team had very good starting wings, but lacked depth behind them. It needed improvement at PF, but many of the FA on the market were guys who plays can play PF-- Bosh, Melo, LeBron, Pau, maybe even Dirk.

So, it made sense to try to fill the PF spot via free agency and see if that works first.

But now, the team didn't get a free agent to play PF, missing out on Bosh the last minute, but it did land Trevor Ariza, a good SF. Also, all of the top free agent PF/Cs and even those a price tier below (Frye, Hawes, Patterson, Diaw, McBoberts) are off the table already so even HOU's remaining cap room/flexibility is unlikely to help find a good PF/C via free agency. There is, however, at least one high level wing available: Lance Stephenson.

Given these conditions, wouldn't it make sense to trade Harden, and his extremely valuable 4 year contract, for Love plus some valuable assets?

Having Love taking the minutes that would have otherwise gone to Jones makes more of a difference than having Harden playing minutes that now would have to go to Ariza, no?

Sign Lance, match Parson, then do this trade.
