If Harden is what it absolutely requires to get a deal done because other teams are willing to part with high picks or valuable players, would would you agree to trade Harden for Love?

Hell no. If it comes down to this, just start looking elsewhere for a third star.

It is official...clutch fans are more unbearable during the off-season with garbage threads like this.

Trade the best SG in the game for a PF who showed an inability every year to lead his team to 1 playoff series.

Harden shows up in Houston and boom, playoffs.

Oh but Harden doesn't play defense...LOVE DOESN'T PLAY DEFENSE EITHER!!!!!!!!

Here's one reason that even Carl Herrera can't dismiss we shouldn't:

Love has an expiring deal while Harden is locked up for 4 more years.

    Love plays defense: http://espn.go.com/nba/statistics/rpm/_/sort/RPM

You only argue that he doesn't because he is white.

And this is why Minnesota would consider taking Harden: he is locked up and cannot escape Minnesota like Love can.

And Love could turn around and pull and Dwight Howard and we get nothing while losing Harden.

He won't. Kevin Love has a strong bond with Kevin McHale.

Love gets blatantly fouled quite a bit without getting the call. The league hates tall white guys?

    No.

But.. the only way I trade Harden for Love is if Melo is for sure coming to Houston..

    That would NEVER happen..

It's not even a lateral move. James Harden is the better player. Kevin Love has been surrounded by talent the last couple of seasons and hasn't been able to do much with it. James Harden basically carried this team to the playoffs in his first season with us.

No, partly because of Loves past of injuries. He's missed 128 games already in his 6 year career, that almost 25% of his career missed. Which isn't a reason not to pursue love by any means, but giving up Harden for him, who's basically IMO on the same level as him, wouldn't be something i would do.

Simply not happening. As to whether it should happen, I would still say no, though really it's a pretty even swap.

    There are alternatives to Melo.

What if the team manages to snag Kyle Lowry via some sort of sign and trade?

What if Kevin Martin comes back in the Love trade? He isn't nearly as good as Harden offensively (and pretty much just as bad on D), but I don't think that scoring enough points would be an issue with Howard, Love, Martin plus guys like Parsons, Lin, Jones, etc.

There are some options for perimeter scorers, via trade, free agency, etc.
