On paper? Maybe. And that's only because you already have Asik on the roster. In practice? Not a chance. You don't sign a guy like Howard in FA and then trade him after 1 year unless he wants out or you basically lose all credibility with all other FA's. You really need to give him at least another year before you can even think about moving him.
I wouldn't trade either of them. This league is built upon relationships and you don't want to sever ties with two guys who signed long term deals. These guys both have incredible respect throughout the NBA and we want to treat them well.
I totally agree, thats why in my first post I said morey would never do it, times have changed. My thing was I would pick love over howard if they both were free agents last summer. and yes howard played big in playoffs if others played their role like you said(no names) we wouldve made it to conf. finals
This would be counter productive. Howard this year -- especially in the playoffs was the Anti-Lakers Howard. All heart and effort. Especially where Harden was lack of effort, at time on BOTH ends of the floor.
No, but it makes way more sense than trading Harden. You have a competent replacement in Asik, you keep Parsons, Love/Harden's ages line up perfectly and when Lin expires, you can try and sign Dragic. Dragic Harden Parsons Love Asik
For pure basketball reasons, yes. But it's bad for relational reasons. The key is we have Asik. Love + Asik is better than Jones/DMo + Howard. And I think Howard is worth more than Love. So you probably get Love + some sweetener for Howard.
No way. Dwight Howard was, by far, the best player on our team during the playoffs and the only one who was consistent. You could argue that he had a better series than LMA (I'm not saying that I thought that he did, just that it could be a legitimate discussion when you consider defense and rebounding.) Dwight has had great playoff games and seems to be getting more and more competitive and hungry to win the ring. Kevin Love's best playoff moments have been, well, he hasn't had any yet. I love Kevin Love and would love to have him on our team. He is a much better shooter and offensive player than Howard. But make no mistake, Howard is still the better player and is able to impact the game in more ways. It still doesn't seem very likely to me, but if we could somehow figure out how to get both. A Howard/Love frontcourt would be amazing.
Thank You. These threads are getting stupid. So people want to trade our stars for someone that can't make it to the playoffs? I know this is a team sport, but name me another player that was considered a top 10 player in the league and can't take his team to the playoffs for six years. Maybe there is something to the Rubio comments.
I clicked No but then I started thinking a Bev/Lin, Harden, Parsons/Defensive 3, Love, and Asik lineup could be interesting.
Why would this post even be created? You'd get rid of one of the only dependable bright spots we had in this year's playoffs? FOR A DUDE who isn't gonna give you the same in scoring or plays D at all??????????????????? Why does this board always want a revolving door with this team!!! Id trade Parsons / Bev/ Lin EVERYBODY ON THE DAMN TEAM not named Howard or Harden ... But not for Love!!! He gets way too much hype for a guy who never carried Minn to a playoff!!!! Howard has tho!!! Harden has tho!!!
I can't get past Asik blowing those easy layups. Gotta have those, the 50% FT at least give you a point.
I think we've all witnessed how great Dwight's impact is on the team. He's more valuable than Harden imo.
