As someone who is an Ohio State fan and would love to see Greg Oden amount to something, your logic is totally baffling.

Oden wasn't just injured when he joined the Blazers. He was oft injured at OSU. Isolating a players' stat and ignoring the few minutes he's actually on the court isn't proof of anything.

It would please me for Oden to become a viable NBA starter. But right now, he's closer to Sam Bowie than he is to Yao Ming.

Not sure what's blinding you to cold hard facts. But Hill on the court at a moments notice is far better than Oden in 3 weeks or 3 months or next season.

I would trade JT for him in a heartbeat. Hill not so much.

Why do that when you could offer him the mle or something in the offseason. I don't think they should be offering up young player for young player. At some point really soon, if not now, the rockets are going to have to start over.

Hill barely gets 15 mins every night as it is. I'd take my chances with Oden.

Greg Oden is the black version of Yao Ming. Elite when on the court, with "when" being the operative word. No thank you.

Oden is very, very clumsy AND he has been injured every year since high school from a scouting report off realgm i read a while back.

Actually, Yao is a picture of health compared to Oden. I wouldn't take Oden for a second round pick. I think he's a liability to have around. His rookie contract will soon expire and he'll be up for renewal. Do you give him anything above the minimum knowing his healthiest seasons are behind him (as sad as that is)?

Health seems to be undervalued. Not only do you lose value when a guy gets injured for the games missed, but it disrupts chemistry for the rest of the team. After Yao and McGrady, the Rockets should be putting a premium on guys who can stay on the court.

hill has been very underwhelming and he doesn't look like he will be getting "it" anytime soon. i hope he does, but i'd rather take my chances on the player with actual talent.

I would, i don´t think Hill will ever be more than a backup PF in a team "not so deep at that position".
Hill wouldn´t be the first backup in many NBA teams as of now.
You hit the nail and land an all star, you miss and loose a backup, so great odds.
That´s the reason why Portland doesn´t trade him, they know they are not going to get anything significative, and if Oden ever recovers, they will be the laughing of the entire NBA.

As tempting as it sounds... I would rather take a marginally talented role player than having to go through another decade of prolonged injury drama.

if he passed a medical exam yes. i dont think losing hill would hurt the team, but if we had a healthy oden? we'd have a mutombo off the bench blocking shots and grabbin rebounds

that's who this team desperately misses, deke

Oden + first round pick and a lot of cash for Hill. Otherwise, Oden is useless.

Tricky. Right now we need Hill badly just to fill in the hole in the middle.. He has potential to be a good starter.

Oden has more potential but the risk is so high. For all we know, his legs could be made out of paper mache.

It all depends on how much time Hill has been given before the trade. If Portland approached us for a trade and Hill at the time is an important figure in our rotation, it would be risky. But as a build up project? Sure. Roll the dice on Oden. But with small contracts. No sense in having another injured center making $ 10 million + to sit on the bench.

Oden has one leg shorter than the other....to the point where he limps naturally know...has to wear an orthotic all the time. He says it probably came from a hip fracture he had as a child...so not only has he had siginificant injuries most of his life, but he's bouncing around on even legs...orthotics can't make up for that completely, and in some cases, actually causes more harm than good.

it's extremely likely he'll have not just another injury, but injuries. The risk is too high to give up Hill.
