Francis is overrated. He only looks good right now because he's on a team with a bunch of weak shooters, which forces him to jack up too many shots.

Put him on a team with good shooters, and you will see how he makes the team worse, not better, simply because he is not a great passer and usually looks to pass only after he's gotten himself into trouble.

That being said, I think as long as the Rockets have crappy shooters like they do now, they will need Francis because they will need a PG that can score off the dribble at will. So, for now the trade is nixed.

However, if the Rockets start getting better, more consistent shooters, then they will probably have to make a trade for a more pass-oriented PG (like a Stockton, Payton, Bibby, or Jason Kidd) that CAN score, but knows how to dish and make the players around him better.

At the time it happened, you were probably as excited about that trade as the rest of us. Griffin was deemed to be the most talented player in the draft that year, and had (and still has) as much potential as any 02 rookie. It was a good trade not only because both teams were essentially getting what kinda players they wanted, but because the Rockets needed to clear a few of those roster spots if you don't remember. So dropping 3 players that seemed to be subpar for one that many thought would be the first pick was a hell of a deal.

You may think it looks bad right now because Jefferson's playing pretty well, but I still think that Griffin will show his worth in the near future, and I'm still willing to give him time.

Keep in mind Jefferson is in the talented forward-deprived Eastern Conference, btw...

Maybe Steve doesn't pass cuz we do have weak shooters??????

If Steve can look GOOD on a BAD team and still lead that team to a WINNING record, then imo he's in the top echelon of NBA players.

Nope. The Clippers, who have just as much talent around them as we do suck! Miller is an underachiever.

Congratulations, you win the award for stupidest post of the thread, including the original...

wizkid83 already brought up a good point I was gonna bring up... So Francis is overrated, huh? Actually, it doesn't seem to me like Francis gets much attention from people outside of Houston or Rockets fans. But man, you are so right about the lack of talent and good shooters on this team... wow you know so much about this league and this sport.

So all Francis is good for is jacking up shots? He can't do anything else, like rebound maybe? Well he's making a fair amount of them if that's all he can do.

And you're so right, Bibby could do so much for this team with his incredible 5.0 apg from last season or 6.5 so far this season. Wow! He passes the ball sooo much better than Steve. I mean look how good he did in Memphis before he was surrounded with so much talent.
