Holy cow! Nietzsche was just promoted from junior member to member. Another pet of the admins, I suppose.
NO- I like Carter, and presently he probably can carry a team better than Francis, but in the future this is doubtful. There just simply arent a lot of high quality point guards out there for the future. Take a look at this years draft for example. Dont get me wrong, Mateen Cleaves is a good player, but when he, Eric Barkley, and somebody named Craig "Speedy" Claxton are your best point guards to choose from, you just knwo there is talent lacking at that position. I really equate Francis to a very young and unpolished Gary Paton, and if you ask me Gary is definitely the best guard in the league (Kidd a somewhat distant second). Besides, for some reason Carter seems pissed off at the world everytime he dunls or does something cool. Francis at least seems to enjoy himself and doesnt take everythin so seriously. I would stick with him all the way. ------------------ Don't sweat the petty things, and don't pet the sweaty things!
HeyPartner, TOUCHE' I need to start working less and posting more, I can't have my reputation ruined by not having a good amount of posts. Hey, wait a minute, I just looked at my total....sheesh.....my parents were right I am a slacker....and I will never make a living at computer games....ok one out of two ain't bad. DaDakota - It is all good, and TALLER is great. ------------------
PS. In order to get my post total up, I leave you with this thought. Many of you are saying it is harder to get a great point guard. On this I agree, now how many smallish PG's have won the championship. Especially if the small PG is the best player on the team. Only Isiah comes to mind, and we all know there is an exception to every rule. I think the Rockets need a BIG player of at least equal skill to Francis in order to excel, and go the distance. 2 more posts...how many more nights do I need to avoid sleeping to catch up to HP? This dang flood control is going to ruin my strategy of an all nighter.....and I just ordered pizza....GRRRR DaDakota - marching on to 1000 posts. ------------------
Where the heck is my pizza, screw it, I am going to bed. I gave them HP's address anyway. Enjoy the anchovies pardner ! DaDakota ------------------
50 points...wow, that's a lot. Groovy, I really needed those 50 points to increase my Pole Post ratio (a measure of posting effeciency). While I may score a lot of points on slams, DaDakota is much more efficient. Plus, I have a lot more turnovers. I still envy Will's assist to turnover ratio. That "Who in here works for the Rockets" thread, really helped him take the lead on assists.
Are you saying how many smallish point guards who are the team's star has won championships or just how many small point guards, cause there has been plenty of small point guards, our own Kenny Smith as an example. If you are talking about team stars though, you make a good point. How tall was Cousy? I think, though, that the point is a little mute. I mean, dont tell me Gary PAyton cant carry a team to a championship. He can, and if it hadnt been for a man we call MJ, he already would have. Nobody can do it alone, even Micahel needed the despisable #33 and a good cast of role players. So certainly, Francis, as a "small" (I guess you are just comparing to Magic) PG cant do it alone, but with another great player-perhaps someone like Stromile Swift!!!-we could start to build torwards another ring. ------------------ Don't sweat the petty things, and don't pet the sweaty things!
Wow, now that is a TOUGH question! At this point I would have to say yes because if there is one position where we are stocked it is at the guard. Vince would lock up the SF position for years to come. Mobley and Moochie could handle the PG responsibilities with Shandon playing the 2. I would hate to lose Stevie, but gaining Vince would be awesome. ------------------ We need some meat in the post!
