Some ppl here are still in love with LOVE. I said D-Mo is better value and almost the same player when healthy. Love is the example of overrated player, padding stats on a bad team & finally getting exposed when he's' around talent. Kevin Love aka Shareef Abdur Rahim. That might be too nice.
While certainly he'd be better as a main cog... There's no excuse for his piss poor play or effort Unless it's concussion related. Because otherwise there's just no fire there. Just because you're option 3 doesn't mean you can't move, cut, offensive rebound, etc. Instead he just shoots jumpers - not well - and does t even rebound well. I think there was a play in the 4th where he wasn't able to box out Steph enough to get a long rebound. It's pathetic.
this was kind of my point a DMO at 10-8 mill a year is a much better value than Love at 20+ a year Rocket River
besides the fact that a dwight 4 love trade wont happen, i think people are failing to see how and why love would thrive were he in our system. yes hes a great shooter and would succeed in the PnP and spot up 3s, would give us our second scoring option even more so in the halfcourt in the post, would add much needed rebounding especially while losing dwight, but what ithink is being severly underrated is his outlet passing. hehas always been elite at the transition outlet runner, and in the ssol offense being able to secure that defensive rebound and instantly make the outlet pass in transition would be extremely valuable
Except, Love is also bad at defense so if your top two players are both defensive liabilities how many games do you expect to win? At least Harden can play ok defense when he's extremely motivated, even when he's trying hard Love gets abused on the paint by other players. And this is assuming he's healthy, look at his performance the past two playoff runs with Cavs, first separated shoulder, now he's playing with a concussion and compiling 2 pts 3 rebs in 30 mins of PT.
There is no excuse for a "star" to have only 2 pts and 3 rebs in 30 minutes. Kevin Love trade would be a mistake.
I think role and fit matter a lot, and Love does not fit well with this Cavs team, so that's a factor to consider, but you're right. There is no excuse for a 2 and 3 stat line. Crazy how far he's fallen in perception.
How many times did we all hear on this board it's Kevin Love's teammates fault that Minny sucked for all those years? He put up monster numbers for years but still resulted in L's. Reality check, he just wasn't ever good enough to be the main guy. He wasn't ever as good as people thought he was. Here he is now on a playoff team and struggling, dangling between being the 3,4,5 most important guy between himself, JR, and TT.
Yes love is bad defensively but tbh a lot if super/all-stars are. I think it would be challenging to field a solid defense around them but I believe it to be possible. Your not gonna get someone perfect, draymond, klay, kawhi, Aldridge, LeBron, etc... Isn't coming thru that door. It will be dsmn near impossible any time soon to acquire an elite 2way star, so you deal with what you can get and try to build it up around them. Love being so bad of a fit and Cleveland likely to move on from him, makes him somebody intriguing that you could acquire. Defensively he does not help us and makes us bad defensively at the 4, but offensively he would help out extremely. And with MDA here we have to realize certain things. But even still, its not like love is a downgrade from tjones, dmo, Beasley that we have been trotting out there. I don't think we can acquire him because I don't think we have the assets, I think Boston does, but if for whatever reason Cleveland wanted our role players and picks because its the best offer than I would take the risk on love all day.
Hypothetically, in a world where Cleveland is actually interested in Dwight and we're about to lose him for nothing (barring a S&T)... Yes Not holding my breath on that happening, though.

I would easily trade him, not because I'm enamored with Love but because Dwight is done here and we might as well get something of value in return. Love will put up video game numbers under MDA.
What's the purpose of the trade? So Rockets defense can go from bad to worst? Kevin Love is just a bigger David Lee, who can put up good looking numbers on offense but has little impact on winning.
