So is Capela the new Terrence _Ones? Because he Cant Shoot, Cant Shoot, Cant Shoot, Cant Shoot................

The Rockets lucked out last year and drafted a legit backup to Dwight for the foreseeable future, and he's got at least 3 more seasons on a rookie contract. Why we'd actively WANT to trade him now is beyond me.

If Cameron Payne is legit lottery talent than nobody is trading him anyways unless they are getting an established really good veteran player back that is highly coveted around the league.

Capela is a nice prospect, and fills in a needed role THE ROCKETS need to fill, but let's not get carried away here with his value around the league. Much like with Jones, Capela's value is probably higher in Houston than it is anywhere else because of team need. Which is why ultimately he looks like a player that probably stays in Houston.

Capela's progressing at Goku levels. Still want to see him Twin Towers it with Dwight. Keep Capela and get rid of Jones and whoever else we need to get ourselves a legit point guard.

This has to be the most lopsided pole I have seen in Clutchfans history! What an epic fail of a thread.

Almost all the star centers in the NBA are defending, shot blocking, rebounding centers. Cousins is the only "star" center with offensive game (you could argue Vucevic and Lopez too but I'm not sure those guys are stars), everyone else gets points off of dunks and put backs (including Dwight).

I don't think it's foolish to think that he could turn into a Hibbert/Chandler type. Even if he doesn't, in the NBA:

Mediocre 7 footer > Good wing

Remember that time Capela caught a couple of alley-oops in those games the Rockets lost? He's totally going to be in the Hall of Fame one day. You can't just trade a once in a generation talent like that.

Neither does Dwight Howard or Deandre Jordan.

Personally, I would rather Grant. He has better size, better defense, good enough 3 pt shooter, better competition.

I dont see Capela as being an offensive star .... but he will get a lot of easy buckets playing off of other players.
His potential is DeAndre Jordan (lite) with better FT shooting ... the Clippers paid Jordan $11.44m for defense , rebounding & dunks this year , the last year of his deal & he likely gets a max or near max extension as a FA this offseason.
The Rockets are paying Capela between $1.19m , $1,24m $1.29m & $2.33m over the next 4 years with the last two being team options. If he can give even half of DJ's stats over that period of time , he's an absolute bargain. Honestly I expect him to be a better offensive player than Jordan but not quite the defender.

You don't trade bigs with potential unless you are getting back premium players in return.

Unless Capela or Howard miraculously develop a go to jumpshot that would be a disaster much like Howard and Asik twin towers for most of the time. Now that Dmo has some real solid mass and strength he can be paired up with either Capela and Howard....

I prefer Grant , bigger body , can play either guard spot and while he doesn't have one great skill , he can do a little nit of everything well. He's also "ready to contribute now" where Payne will probably need a year or two.

Why do you always want to trade Capela?

Newsflash: 90% of rooks in this year's draft won't be as good as Capela. Centers are the rarest commodity in the NBA and you want to trade a guy we lucked out on for these random dudes.

Payne has risen after the combine and workouts. More than one lottery team has been impressed by him. And one of them is Oklahoma. If presti has been impressed who are we to doubt. They obviously have seen enough in the private workouts to give him promise.
now they say charlotte has been showing interest. So he could go even top10.

Yeah, because you know big men are all about offense and them step back 3 pointers.

If Capela turns out to be a mediocre 7 footer he will already be untradable unless it's for a major piece, look at Festus Ezili and and Timothy Mozgov, these guys are not exactly stars or franchise players but they are still extremely valuable. Big men get paid 10M a year, this guy will be on a rookie scale for the next 5 years making 1-3M and trading him for a guy like Payne...Payne is what, 20 years old? He's not a prodigy like Irving or Rose or Chris Paul, this guy is gonna be extremely raw and will suck ass his first few years in the league. The Rockets are in win now mode and from all media fronts the rumor is that they will pursue Lull aggresively and try to pair him with a retained Pat Bev. So even if we do get Payne how much PT will he get as a 3rd pg behind both Lull and Bev? And Prigs and Jet whom rumors are they also want to bring back?

On the other hand at Center we really only have DMo and Dorsey apart from Dwight. If Dwight goes down you want Dorsey getting 20+ mins a game?

LOL this trade is just so wrong I'm not surprised it's so lopsided.

Payne defintiely looks nice however the NBA is overflowing with good pgs...in the playoffs we even saw one fo the best ever (CP3) get shot down by a team with 35 year old pgs.

To be honest I'm not wasting a lottery pick on a pg nowadays unless he turns out to be franchise talent, you can pretty much get a solid pg just about anywhere. Hell, if they can recruit Lull the Rox will actually be 4 deep at the pg spot next year (Lull, Bev, Prigs, Jet).

Capela had a good rookie season. Whose to say that the next rookie big man won't do the same. I wouldn't mind replacing him with another defensive big man who, unlike Capela, can also space the floor. Like a Richaun Holmes(40+% 3 pt.).
