Man, I hate to be that guy sucked in by measurables... and not placing enough emphasis on on the court results... But his measurables and athleticism are crazy, and if you watch the video, it's not super polished, but he actually has a jumper and some handles. Every once in a while you see something that reminds you of that Thabeet-like lack of 100% coordination that was his downfall.... but frankly Capela has a bit of that, too. On the whole, he looked a lot more fluid than I expected. He might not make it, but I still contend in this week draft, unless you are purposefully going Euro-stash, late first round/second round seems to low for him. The name that keeps coming to mind is Gorgui Dieng. It's just a similar looking fluidity. Except Thon is taller, better reach, more athletic. I'd be pretty intrigued if he dropped to the Rockets somewhere near the top of the second round.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/H2j3nd4oqEY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> There's nothing in Thabeet's current coordination that reminds me of Capela's.
If Thon Maker was 230 lbs like Dieng during his draft year then he'd probably be top 10 just based off potential. But like Zhou Qi, all that length and athleticism but no strength and maybe not the ability to add much more strength to that type of frame.

Opened his mouth, looked at his teeth? (Holding his mouth open.) "How old are you, again?" "Nayn-een." "Nineteen?" (Drooling) "Uh-hunh." "Nineteen, going on twenty-four?"
This guy googled one of the girls from that yearbook pic and found she was 20 in 2013 so either 22-23 today: https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/4ph18e/ubigcritic_reveals_proof_of_thon_makers_true_age/ Spoiler
With these rumors pushing Maker down in the draft and with a guy like George Hill getting traded for #12 I am confident that Capela has more trade value than Thon Maker. I'd be more interested in seeing if we could get high enough to get Jamal Murray using Capela and perhaps another asset. I'd still take a flyer on Maker with a late first or a second rounder but after the recent trade activity it's obvious that Capela has more trade value.
lmao looks like Murray can acquire both Capela and Thon Maker next year...but signing Maker off of the undrafted free agent list.
