I mean, doesn't les care about his wallet? If I were the boss, why should I pay 3 or even 4 over over overrated after-peak players who are all aging quickly, cant match the performance with the salary, and with many yrs of multi-million contract to come?

I like the team we have now. I don't think we need more players(I fully understand another off-season means we'll acquire new players, and say good bye to players), I think we need balls.. guts.. a do or die mentality.

Of our "big three" Shane is the only one who's got it. We need to get that mentality into T-Mac & Yao.

& if we're going to put the ball in T-Mac's hands as often as we do, we need a better shooting point guard.

I like Rashard, and would love for us to be able to get him, but I like Battier and his inconsistent playoff scoring notwithstanding still want to keep him, as well. In the same way we need the toughness of an Artest, we need the discipline, focus, hustle and coolness of a Battier...

I think Nocioni is a great way to go with the MLE but Lewis is WAY better than Battier....his game has gone up a couple levels the last few years...more rebounds...his scoring eff is up...he drives it well....can shoot over defenders...create his own shots...he is one of the most efficient offensive players in the game... we needed that against Utah... did I mention he rebounds well...about 6-7 a game...he would drastically change our offense becaues he can consistantly hold a large offensive load...if when can get him and Collison...I am all for that...
Lewis is younger than Battier...Battier is making 7 mil a year...he does take hard defensive assignments, but how often does he outplay them??? Lewis can outplay most guys... Shoots 46 percent from the field 40 percent from 3 point range...steals and blocks at the same clip as Battier...I think Lewis's shooting can help this team with the potential landing of Francis and maybe Nocioni...We would have 3 three point shooters in the starting line up and 3 guys who could take it to the hole...I said in another thread I feel like VC is coming...but I think Lewis fits better...

    Francis/Alston
    Tmac/Head
    Lewis/Synder
    Nocioni/Hayes
    Yao/Jake

Battier is making 5.3m this year, 5.8M next year. Rashard will not make less than 10M and probably will try to get up to 15M.

The question is how much money you'd pay Rashard Lewis...

Rashard at at reasonable salary = very valuable..

Rashard at a ridiculous salary = albatross.

Nope. Super duper role players are harder to find than third-tier pseudostars. Besides, salaries won't come close to matching.

i think if the rockets made the yao for garnett and battier for lewis trades, it would make houston one of the longest, most athletic, and naturally gifted scoring teams in the game.

we would cause matchup nightmares for many a team! even JVG could coach these guys to score 120 a game!

we could fill in the other roster spots with scrubs, but i would still be concerned with the PG position.

but i'd do it in a heartbeat. we need KG here so we can really go out and get some players who want to win. other nba players believe in kg. and he would help us attract other players for possibly lower rates. especially if we have tmac and lewis.

    truth.

No I don't like any trade idea. I jsut want to steal.

I think we all need is an great coach and replace Sura, Bonzi(cause we can not keep him).
Watch other teams (spurs, mavs, suns, GS) they all have so many more drive in than us.
So we need develop or design some O plan for players to cut in and attack the rim. Right now, we have only Tmac can do it, maybe vspan and snyder.
So our O is really one-diminsion right now, all up on our 3s. If tmac and our shooters can hit , we are great team, otherwise, hopeless.

    We need a new coach.

I was quite dissapointed with Battier's defence in the playoffs. I ended up being not quite sure at times who he was supposed to be guarding and to what degree he had been effective.

No. Rashard is in a position where he can force a trade if he wants to come to H-Town and we don't have to give up Battier.

I think this is a distinct possibility if Rashard really wants to come home.

That shouldn't even be a question thats how obvious the answer is because rashard is that good, did everyone forget he put up 50 in an opener i believe (not sure). I understand that battier is a very good defensive player and an all around professional but I if you had a chance to take a guy like rashard it has to be a no-brainer.

It would be difficult for me to do but I'd say yeah. Lewis gives us a bigger PF, one that can actually score. I would really miss Battier's defense and 3pt's though. I don't know if it would work but I'd rather trade our 1st round pick + one or two bench players.

    I have a trade proposal.

    1. Trade Shane Battier for Udonis Haslem -
    - Rockets reasoning - we get a veteran with championship experience. He hustles, rebounds, and plays smart D. He is quick and crafty. What we lose in Shane's perimeter shooting, we gain in O. rebounding and as well as midrange shooting. Haslem, I think, would be a perfect fit next to Yao. This trade works perfectly under the trade checker.
    - Heat's reasoning - James Posey and Jason Kapono are both unrestricted free agents. Miami can shore up their perimeter D and perimeter shooting. He'd be in instant favorite with Pat Riley. And their PF spot? well, that's their problem.

    2. Trade for Boris Diaw -
    - Now, you may think that this one is unfeasible, but upon closer inspection, I think we may be able to pull this off. Why would Phoenix trade a versatile player like Diaw? Well, first, Diaw is due for big money. With the contracts of Nash, Stat, and Marion, they may just want so save money. Second, Phoenix has a LOTTERY PICK. They're incredibly lucky to have one in such a deep draft, and Phoenix could find a replacement for Diaw.
    - Now, why would we trade for Diaw? well, we lose Battier in the previous trade. Diaw is a very versatile player with good i.q. He is a good passer and playmaker. He can play all 5 positions. He is not a great shooter however, but what we lose in perimeter shooting, we gain in Haslem's midrange game and that moves Chuck to the bench. If we get Adelman, Diaw would be a perfect fit for the Princeton offense. I could name a lot of reasons for which Diaw would be good for us. Getting him wouldn't be that big of a problem I think, we could trade Phoenix a resigned Bonzi wells, or a combination of Bench players. I think what they would want is an expiring contract.

    3. What about the rest of the roster?
    - well, with this roster, It'd be best to get a better shooter out of the PG position. That's obvious. Anyways, it's just a rough idea. Tell me what y'all think

Why? Lewis is a lot better ofensive player and he would probably knock kown that open 3s that Battier has had. But on the other hand Shane is a lot better defender...
