Well, I hate to say it, but he clearly isn't clutch. He's never had 10 TD's in any one season. To me that says he gets lots of yards and catches in "non-clutch situations," if you will. Revis is clutch. The Jets went to the playoffs.
No for 2 reasons. 1. The NFL is quite often extremely unpredictable esp when looking at individual players contributions. Revis had a great year last year, but it was only 1 year. No one has a clue if he can match that again. Meanwhile, Johnson has seemed to be remarkable consistent at a high level. You can count on him getting 1000 yards and 10 TD's even with the number of double teams he receives. 2. It is rare to find a great NFL player that is truly loyal to their team and humble. Johnson is the definition of those characteristics. He leads by example, and does everything for team success. In one season, Revis has already seemed to be a bit of a "showstopper" and if he depending on how long he holds out on this contract, thinking more about himself than the team. Based on that, do you really want him as a team leader?
No, not after all he's given to this team and what he means to this offense(Definitely a Top 3 Offense). You just don't shrug that off and throw that away. Andre Johnson should retire a Texan. Revis is a GREAT player though. Definitely in the top 10 regardless of position.
Revis is special but Andre is too, much more so IMHO... All things being equal, you'd consider it, but in the end say no...
i'm not to sure why ya'll are so against revis.. if you threw a somewhat decent reciever in the mix, im a diehard johnson fan.. but revis would instantly put us in the top 3 in defense.. and i feel like matt schaub doesn't need andre..they are a good tandem, but matt knows how to distribute the ball well enough to succeed without a Hall of fame worthy reciever..
There are a lot of good WR not too many shutdown corners. Who won the reeves vs aj matchup? You would take a really good ss over a really good 1b cause there are fewer really good ss. You take a really good C over a really good wing.
This.... What Revis did to the top receivers he faced last year was sick. And I agree- it's easier to replace a WR than a top shutdown corner. Don't get me wrong- I think Andre is badass, but I think Revis, at this age, has more upside. If you want to talk contract, loyalty, all that, it might sway me somewhat, but if you are talking current player at current age, I go with Revis. You are opened up to so much more scheming, defensively, if you can put a corner on an island against any receiver.
That's hardly a fair comparison. the Jets defensive front was in Matt's face before he could even look down field. That was an teamwide ass kicking...hardly because of 1 mans "shutting down" AJ.
It's not only about on-field performance...well, right now it is because AJ is the only one of the 2 that isn't throwing a hissy fit, is in camp, and hasn't missed a practice.

What I want to know is who are the 24 people who voted for this? Whats more important, the best WR in the NFL or the best DB in the NFL...easy choice IMO.
Revis is easily one of the most over-hyped players I have ever seen in the NFL. Not saying he isn't good, but he is nowhere near as good as he has been made out to be in the past year.

Andre Johnson never considered holding out and shows up to camp to do his thing. Darrell Revis isn't even in camp yet. Easy choice.
