It would kill me to trade away the guy that most wants his team to succeed. I'm not too caught up on locker room social ladder, but I consider him to be the heart of the team if not its leader.

I think if we could acquire an all-star level player at any D position, we would benefit most if it was a safety.

They would have to give me asomugha, richard seymour, michael bush, a 3rd round pick, and one of al davis' track jackets so I can frame it.

Asomugha can shut down an entire side of the field. He is filthy. No way would the Raiders trade him for anything short of Mario Williams. There isn't a receiver out there more valuable than Asomugha. Raiders get Johnson? Sweet Russell can overthrow the best receiver in the NFL by 12yds instead of some rookies. Sweet.

you guys are *greatly* overvaluing andre johnson; more specifically: the WR. in the football hierarchy, a shutdown CB is on par with with a QB, LT and DE. you make that trade every day of the week and twice on sunday.

asomugha would *instantly* improve the texans' defense. *immensely* - far greater than the loss of johnson would impact the texans' offense. that's not a knock on johnson, either. but i promise you, every nfl personnel man worth a damn would tell you finding another andre johnson is easier than finding another asomugha.

now, that's not considering salary - didn't asomugha just a sign a ridiculously huge extension? that's about the only thing that might even the playing field a bit.

He signed 3 years / 45 mil, making him the highest paid defensive player in the league.

Ziggy's point is a good one, but don't put it past the undead Al to salivate over a Wideout with Speed.

All he wants to do is recreate the glory days of Daryl Lamonica to Bilentnikoff or Kenny Stabler to Cliff Branch.

Exactly the point I was trying to make with this thread, Johnson is a stud but in a position that could be replaced a lot easier then a TRUE shut down corner.

Al Davis is one crazy old man so I think he might bite but is McNair and Smith/Kubiak radically enough to make a dramatic change like this? Probably not IMO.

i dunno... kubiak watched shannahan do it several years ago, dealing portis for champ bailey. i don't think he will, no - but it's not a totally radical idea. (though the radical quotient increases if you do it in-season.)

there is a video on NFL.com about Andre vs. Nnamdi. They said Nnamdi would win the matchup this week, but the Texans will win the game.

I would trade AJ for anyone! Hes the man, plain and simple. From his on field play, to his demeanor, hes just a great player and person.

I wouldn't trade for AJ for Aso simply because I would be afraid that Aso would turn to walking vomit the moment he put on our uniform, as free agents are wont to do around here.

h*** no. A Johnson is THE BEST receiver in the league. if he played for the colts or the patriots, he'd be unstoppable.

we need to trade for a QB. not a CB. Shaub sucks.

I agree that given equal players, CB > WR. But is Asougha better than AJ?

Wide receiver may not be the most important position in the game, but that doesn't mean the player is automatically worth less. For example, would you trade a prime Jerry Rice(top WR) for a prime Deion Sanders(shutdown corner)?

If I wasnt so attached to AJ, I would do the deal in a heartbeat.

You guys realize how hard it is to find a true shutdown CB?

In any case, AJ is my boy and I wouldnt do the trade just because I enjoy having him in a Texans uni.

Pfft..Eddie Royal is on one of my fantasy teams..he is like 3 catches for 12 yards on the year..so N.A held him to his 2009 average.

I hope you are not saying Daniels is a Top 5 TE. I could see him being at Top 10 TE.
