I wasn't going to reply, but now I am. You've clearly never been molested. If you had been you would know that there is no amount of money that ever makes it go away. It haunts you for life. It makes future sexual encounters awkward for you, even with your wife. Recovering from molestation as a child is incredibly difficult, and that is when you have fantastic parenting. God help the people who have to try to recover mentally and socially with crappy or absent parents.
I'd take the $20 million, and I have a kid. I don't trust the legal system enough to put him away. Then again I might keep the civil and criminal parts completely seperate. Then maybe you get justice, and financial security for your family. Would I have let my son be alone with Michael Jackson for $20 million? Not for more than 10 seconds.

I definitely understand this post. If the question is "Would you take the $20 million because you are fearful there will be no justice?" Probably. That isn't what's being posed by the OP though. His core position is molestation isn't a big deal at all and that it's a good business decision to have your child molested in order to get the money.
You people must have wonderful childhood then. But not all children in the world are as carefree. If you ask the kids in Vietnam who sleep on the streets, they definitely would not mind letting someone feel on them for that huge chunk of money. Some things are only so important if you make it so. If you think of as someone touching your body is just that, then it would not be such a big deal. There was a time when a woman's virginity was her most important treasure. Are you speaking from experience? Do you know that, when I was growing up in Vietnam, it was normal for older men to play with kids' penises? To them, it's just like kissing on the cheek. In that situation I take him to both criminal and civil. He might as well have to pay for my child to go to whatever college, see whatever psychologists, and rot in prison to protect other children. Part of the problem in the question of $20million or jail is that the damage to your own kid is already done. The money actually has more benefit to your family than sending him to jail, but it would benefit other families more. Neither is going to cause what happened to go away. Neither is actually going to make me happy. I think if it came down to it, I'd take the money. I'm just not sure I would let him live long enough to pay me. I don't think I could control my rage enough no to at the very least severly injure the guy.
