would you take luka doncic now or james harden from age 20-30 starting now?

Luka could turn out to be one of the top 5 players in the history of the NBA...or he might be injury-prone as he ages. Point is, we know what Harden is capable of, and it's a top 5 player in the league.

An example is Dwyane Wade. He was really, really good pre-30; on the wrong side of 30 though, he started to decline. You never know if this could happen to Luka.

Even over the next 2-3 years, I'd take Harden over Doncic.

 

Imagine Harden having a Porzingis-like teammate during any of the past years he was a Rocket.

 

Not taking away from Luka. He's a good player and has amazing potential. But these type of threads always happen when we lose. It's kinda annoying.

 

Harden with a mobile, stretch big with legitimate size like Porzingis?

 

Luka just cuz he’s white and gets the media love and will get preferential ref treatment.

If we had Doncic, he'd be playing for the Vipers. Next year we would be trading him before the deadline.

 

Not sure why this would be controversial. The guy is 20 and averaging 30 ppg. You basically take him over anyone. I imagine the hostility is rooted mostly in jealousy over what the Mavs have been able to build after Dirk, along with the well established victim mentality that has plagued this fan base for several years now.

 

That will never happen because he doesnt dominate the ball that much. You can do it with Harden cause he only knows how to play with ball in his hands so when you force him to pass he will stand clueless

 

It depends. Could I also get rid of Westbrook's salary so that we can actually build around Doncic? If so, I could at least entertain it. Doncic isn't as good as Harden now but I can't believe how good he is at 20. I'm not sure we've seen anyone that good at that age since Lebron.
