If Sloan's goal was a ring, he wouldn't have stayed in Utah all those years, they're the single most undesirable place in all the NBA, that they remained competitive for so long is a testament to coaching and management really.

Sloan is a good coach, but changing coaches alone isn't going to make the Rockets contenders, even if we could have any coach in NBA history leading the team next year. Besides hiring him would preclude any chance at making a run at Deron Williams

I said no...but not out of anger over his Jazziness.

He's a good hard nosed coach....but rapidly falling out of touch with today's NBA. He can't manage the egos like he could, and he'll have far less clout outside of Utah where he was a living legend. Plus, he's more rigid with his system than JVG or Larry Brown - he'd want over half the team shipped out immediately rather than work with them.

I've got questions about Adelman at this stage as well....but Sloan isn't going to be the answer.

That may be true, but its a little unfair to make that judgment based on his falling out with Deron Williams. 23 years as a coach and this is the first time I can recall him not being able to manage an ego.

Don't like Utah but I like and respect Jerry Sloan.

With that said some of you dissing Adelman act like he has been playing with a full deck of cards since coming to Houston. Every year he has been in Houston he has dealt with his big guns being out for most of the season. Anyone who thinks any coach would get these group of guys deep in the playoffs or even in the playoff are kidding themselves.

So go ahead want Jerry Sloan who has had a fairly healthy team over recent years but he would not make much of a difference here in Houston.

He's a great coach and all, but he's obviously burned out and too old for this ****. I seriously doubt he wants to coach any more. If he did, he could have stayed in Utah. Besides, we have a great coach now.

Hello, no. He is not better than our current coach, it would be more expersive to hire him too.

It's hard to process statements like "I hate the Jazz but I like Sloan." (Think it's said more in the Dish thread)

Who do people think taught Malone/Stockton/Hornacek/Harpring/Okur/AK/Boozer to live up to their Jazzhole potential???

For the same reason Rockets fans who hated Charles Barkley as an opponent loved him as a Rocket. The same reason many people seldom watch former Rockets after they've been traded. Underneath it all, it's a business.

stupid grass is greener hate of current situation. i don't know what people expect out of a coach competing in the western conference with one big man who can dunk.
