Jeffries, Andersen, Battier, Ariza, and Jordan Hill for Brand, and AI.

    Carl Lanry TE for Turner

    Yao / Hayes
    Scola / Brand / Harris
    Iguadola / Turner
    Martin / Budinger / Taylor
    Brooks / Lowry

Championship team. Would Les do it?

I have trouble believing either team would do this. Philly would think very hard and probably do it if no one else wants to take Brand. Even if they throw in AI that is more than $32 million off the books every year for over three years.

    Enter Chris Bosh

Aaron Brooks + Jordan Hill + fillers for Chris Bosh

    Yao/DeMarcus Cousins
    Chris Bosh/Luis Scola
    Trevor Ariza
    Kevin Martin/Evan Turner
    Ricky Rubio/Kyle Lowry

Did you miss the part where Minny gets Evan Turner?

I absolutely did, and I was wondering when making the DC:"Why do we have Turner again when we have Kevin Martin?"

Hahaha thanks for pointing that out bro!

We Dont need a SG that bad .. But U know if we didnt have Martin
I wouldve taken Turner .. Plus I dont think Brand is that bad hes just stuck in a bad sitution ..
Bad Coaches .. Bad Mangment .. Injuries ..
If I Minny I would take Brand and Turner preferply without giving the 4th pick ..

At first I was pretty intrigued, but it you look at the players drafted #2 there are a LOT of busts.

    http://www.nba.com/history/draft_top13.html

The #2 pick actually seems the worst in the top 5. 3-4-5 are all about the same, and there's a big dropoff after 5. I think it would be dumb to trade for the #2 pick because you think #2 pick = automatic star. Only trade for the #2 pick if you are absolutely CERTAIN Turner (or one of the others) is your guy. It sure would suck to take on Elton Brand and then draft the next Stromile Swift. Morey has drafted better than average, but he has drafted a few scrubs too.

I'll laugh my ass off if Philly is forced to deal the #2 overall pick of the draft along with whatever tangible value Brand brings from a production standpoint merely just to get out of paying Brand's horrific contract. You know, the SAME exact contract Philly was willing to give him less than two years ago is now worth sacrificing two players (one of which just so happens to be franchise player caliber) just to get rid of Brand.

    Pathetic.

...and to answer your question, no! Knote32 seems to have some sort of unhealthy obsession with Brand and his untouchable contract. :p

Agree with this 100%. As a rule getting overpaid players is bad, however if you end up getting the 2nd overall IMHO you do it no questions asked. Brand's contract only lasts the next 3-4 years, however having a 2nd pick can basically make you a contender for the next decade and a half. Also its not like Brand is a bust of Rashard Lewis or Kwame Brown proportion. As larvs8 mentioned Brand can contribute across the board.

Brand may also be happy to play here too, even as a backup and proving guys wrong. He can contribute to this team.

And Turner has that Roy potential, but he also has the potential to be a better player than Brandon too. I am pretty sure athletically he is higher rated than Roy was coming out, and he's just loaded with offensive skills.

By the time Brand runs out, it will be time to give Turner a new contract. This isn't a bad idea at all if Philly is serious about it and it isn't some BS rumor.

I think we would have to give more than we have been proposing (for the most part)

Exactly. People were complaining we didn't tank to draft Roy back in 2006. Well, he is our chance to get a player deemed the next Roy. I think Evan Turner is Brandon Roy, but with more rebounds and better court vision. Not to mention his shooting isn't that bad (shot over 50% from the field the past two years). He turned the ball over a lot, but he handled the ball the most at Ohio State. Can you imagine adding a Roy to this team (Evan Turner)?? That would be incredible. Plus, we could still have some assets to trade for Bosh, or try and get the 4th pick from Minnesota (would NOT give them Turner).

That's something I'm worried about. McGrady had back issues long before his knee and shoulder started bothering him, which caused a huge drop off in athleticism after his first year here.

Tmac's back wasn't due to some freak injury like that one. I think he had a genetic condition, and was once told by doctors that he will have a very short career because of it, and that was probably also compounded by having an inexperienced trainer who taught him bad form when lifting weights.

Oth, that just looks like a freak accident. Turner will probably be fine once he recovers.

Statistical genius? I don't want to insult you, but this is pretty bad work, unless you are just goofing off. The easiest response to this is to say that the people with the number 2 pick, according to you, should always swap it straight up for the #3 pick.

Your results are anomalous because you are working from an extremely small set of data.

I'm trying to figure out why Philly would do it.

I would take Evan Turner with the #1 overall pick, and I would probably go through with this trade.

LOL don't waste your time replying to this clown. He's the genuis who made that thread that claims the Tmac trade made us worse. Honestly I don't know why he keeps on posting. He said he'll leave the board if KM averages double digits.
