Anyone know if we would still have some money left for a backup center if we were to take Brand?

Brand does suck now tho and has been injured a lot lately compared to his Clipper days. But for the 2nd pick hmm... I might take the offer if it's really there. I think Morey should ONLY do it if we still can get a backup center(in the draft or free agency/trade) after the deal.

Yes many times. It depends on who the Rockets are giving up though.

Of course, it isn't my money, or my salary cap, or my luxury tax.

But, hell to the yes. Why fart around? Get a future franchise player. Evans is going to be a stud. True or not, the Brandon Roy comparisons give you an idea of what people believe of him.

It will cost more than expirings, though. That's just the straight-up truth. You'd have to yield Aaron Brooks or, say, Budinger and our draft pick this year. SOMEthing of value.

But you could turn around and swing for the fences by trading Kevin Martin and whomever else to even out the roster. I see Evans as more of a 2. Martin at the 3? Perish the thought.

As i said before, if we trade for Turner, Martin is gone, you can't have 12M on the bench neigther a 2nd draft pick

**** if we were to get Tuner...

The guy is super versitile they say and can play all wing positions, PG/SG/SF. He would probably come off the bench like James Harden but he could maybe play the point if the Lowry stuff doesn't work out. 6'7" PG off the bench with Ariza and Battier(if he isn't traded) at the 2 & 3 would be nasty. Take our 14th pick and draft Whiteside or maybe move down and get Alabi and we would be stacked.

I would give them a package of Bud, JJ, and Battier + maybe some filler(s) like the 14 pick if we could get a legit backup center some other way.

Before the age of rookie salary slotting, the #2 pick routinely gets near Brand's salary(adjusted for inflation and stuff). So HELL YES I'd do it. It would be basically like paying Turner for market value rather than ridiculously underpriced value.

Of course, I'd only give them #14 and Budinger(no more unless it's throwin) in return. But Brand's contract basically runs through Turner's rookie deal.

Didn't Morey mention awhile back looking to take on a bad contract in order to get a special player? Brand isn't trash he can play.

Give them JJ, Battier and either the 14th pick or Bud. Maybe both.

I wonder what it would take to get Iggy too.

How about Jeffries, Battier, Brooks, Anderson, and Bud

For Iggy, Brand, and #2 pick

    Lowry/Llull
    Martin/Turner
    Iguodala
    Scola/Brand
    Yao/Hill

Interesting.... you still have #14 pick and the Knicks 2012 pick too.

Absolutely do it if you have the opportunity. I have a feeling Wall, Turner, and Cousins will all be star quality players. We would regret it if we didn't try.

You'd still have Ariza too. Tons of depth top to bottom especially at the 2/3. If you drafted Whiteside:

    Lowry/Llull
    Martin/Turner/Taylor
    Iguodala/Ariza
    Scola/Brand/Hill
    Yao/Whiteside

Good looking team to me with plenty of flexibility to make trades and you still have the Knicks swap and pick.

Brand's contract is ugly, but it's not my money.

Actually thinking about it... Minny really wants that 2nd overall pick to draft Evan Turner, but they don't have the contracts to match Brands hideous contract in order to do the trade ... So maybe we can work out a deal where we get the 4th pick & Rights to Ricky Rubio like...

    Philadelphia Sixers-
    Shane Battier (Expiring)
    Jared Jeffries (Expiring)
14th pick - (Whiteside, Henry, George, etc)
    Chase Budinger

    Minnesota T-Wolves-
    2nd pick - Evan Turner
    2012 NY pick
    2011 Swap picks

    Houston Rockets-
    4th pick- Demarcus Cousins
    Rights to Ricky Rubio
    Elton Brands (albatross contract)

Brands contract would end by the time we have to re-up Cousins & Rubio (whom I'd think we could bring over through Chinese sponsors buying out the remainder of his contract)

I would absolutely do it. Would give up Jeffries, Budinger, our own lottery pick, Battier, and 3 million in cash. Sixers would have to buy out Battier like Big Z. I think that's as good of an offer as Philly would get.

How about a re-signed Lowry, Jeffries, and David Andersen for Brand and #2?

Then trade #2, #14, Battier, and Ariza to Cleveland for Lebron.

    Brooks
    Martin
    Lebron
    Yao
    Scola

    Budinger
    Brand
    Hill
    FA
    FA

I would also ask Philly to throw in that 6 10 young big man they got too.

If Morey and Hollinger has the same frame of mind or the same computer program thingamabobber, Cousins would be the guy Morey takes.

Depends what it costs us, if all it takes is our expirings i would go for it, solves our backup C problem as well (Although Brand is not really a C)
