It's still too early to judge the trade, but I could see this coming last year during all the incessant, vitriolic Francis-bashing... Perhaps it was his time to go, but too many fans scapegoated him for all of the Rockets problems, assuming things would all of a sudden be peachy keen once he departed. Classic "grass is greener" syndrome. And now the ex-wife looks better than ever, while the new chick is already showing her faults. Again, the final verdict remains to be seen. I'm confident that T-Mac will come around. But it definitely is poetic justice to see Stevie thrive in Orlando. Of course, now there's new scapegoats to bash for the team's problems.
I believe the 3 scrubs he's referring to are currently on the rockets. The 3 starters are now on the Magic.
T-mac has a much bigger upside to his game. Once we make it through this mess and start playing some fundamentally sound basketball, rebounding the ball, I think it will become much more apparent. Can you imagine what our record would be if we just rebounded the ball?
Welll the only thing that really killed us in this trade wasnt T-Mac 4 Steve BUT Cat/Cato 4 Howard/Lue. It left us REALLLLLLY weak at the 1 and 4 spots.
No. He should be getting more than 5 rebounds a game though, doesn't he know that this team needs help rebounding in the worse way?
Yes, I would still make the trade, but more trades and acquistions need to be made. Plus, Ming has "melted down" in ways totally unanticipated. The team is built around a dominant center, and he is anything but that at present. He is largely taking up space. Nothing works as long as he continues in the funk he is in.
They trade is IMPOSSIBLE to judge based on 16 games. T-Mac and Yao are both 25, and if Yao re-ups, we'll have 5-6 years to make this trade work in our favor. Patience.
I love Steve, Cat and too a much, much lesser degree Cato, but I'd do the trade every day of the week and twice on Sunday. I hate that EG is gone, but that just makes me an "alcoholic, depressed gangsta, shootin' at a fool hoe" lover. And I had no idea that I had those tendencies.
Lue is a scrub, Howard is overrated, and Gaines is a scrub. They started on a team that only won 21 games last year. This team is almost the same team as the Magic's team last year, except for Yao of course, but he hasn't shown himself to be the once in a lifetime player he was supposed to be.
I really think CD should get on the phones and try to work a deal... Howard for NeNe. Whatcha think about that?
The question should be would you still have taken Yao Ming! We should have taken Amare.... Then we would still have Steve and Cat. Mcdyess owned Yao last night, and he's usually their second string center....
i hated the trade then, i hated it now. I waited FIVE years to get to the playoffs, we played with our hearts and lost, I was happy to just get back to the post-season. we trade away our heart and start losing, and everyone says "stay patient", "its a long season", or "wait till next year" F That, we were a team on the rise and now we have egg on our face. how can you deny this was a better trade when Orlando is doing what they are doing this season? it didnt take time for the Magic to gel, notice we have a worse team this year. admit it people, we suck...
Uh, because we are only 16 games into the season, that why. 16 game is not fair standard by which to grade a trade.
Couch is just about the only job I'd hire Jackson for. I'd still do the trade. But, as I was saying at the time, the trade wasn't the slam-dunk everyone was saying it was. We gave up a lot of talent (more than most are willing to recognize), and we took a lot of risk on the intangibles. We seem to be paying the price right now. We took a step back and will hopefully eventually take 2 steps forward.
