Hope you feel better soon. How is that daughter of yours doing lately? I remember you showed a picture of her with a Lin 7 jersey someone sent her from CF.

I am secure in being a Rockets fan. You see, I don't need validation.

You know what I see? I see LOF as a huge opportunity for the Rockets. They may not know a lot about basketball, and they have a skewed view, and right now, all they care about is Lin. I get that. Doesn't bug me as a Rockets fan at all if they would rather see Lin score 30 points and the Rockets lose then see the Rockets win and Lin score 5. Because I understand that if it were not for Lin, they might not even care about basketball. I suspect they are so passionate about Lin because he represents something very deep to them, something very personal that they identify with. His success means a lot to them. A LOT. And frankly, it's bigger than basketball. He's a trailblazer - someone who is breaking the stereotype about Asian baller's. That they can't have finesse. That the only way they can be successful or good is by being a freak of nature at 7'6". Yeah, they got a chip on their shoulder.

I understand that. And as a Rockets fan, as a trueblood, diehard Rockets fan - one who is still a fan despite having left Houston over 20 years ago, a before you even could say Hakeem Olajuwon - as that sort of fan, I understand that branding the Rockets as the NBA franchise that first had Yao Ming, and now has Jeremy Lin - can elevate the Rockets to having a dedicated loyal fan base that spans 10's of millions of people. More fans makes our team stronger, makes it richer, makes it more valuable, makes Les willing to spend more money. It can make the Rockets that much bigger global brand.

So yeah, they are more important than you're whiny sorry annoying butt. And I for one am going to show them patience and try to help them become Rockets fans rather than piss them off and make them think that Houston is filled with a bunch of douche bags like you. I think if they watch enough Rockets games without all antagonism, some might just become ROFs. People like yourself are a barrier to that.

Lin is a rock star amongst his fans and if he leaves the Rockets they will go where he goes. Many of the LOFs follow another team (like the Knicks for example) and or don't follow the NBA at all and are only watching because of Lin and are only following the Rockets because of Lin.

This thread is useless... All of this should be obvious.

This post alone goes a long long LONG way towards reconciling Rockets fans and Lin Fans. X100 better then some stupid nonsensical posts from 99ers that do not really reflect the respect and dignity that should come with their seniority.

I think the posters tinman is calling out (a minority of bad apples) are not the same brand (the majority of respectful fans) Lou is defending. But this is team forum, so you can't expect everyone here to be as patient if they're so blatantly pro-Lin/anti-everyone else.

He's not calling out poster x,y, and z. He's calling out anyone who roots for Lin over the Rockets - and that's a much bigger set than a few bad apples.

    I'm a quasi-LOF.

I live in Charlotte. The Horncats stink right now.

Perhaps a better way of saying it is: I'm LMBSEF... a Lin-Mostly But Still Evolving Fan.

I've been playing fantasy basketball with guys from work for the past few years now (been killing it too, went undefeated the past two years) and it drew me into the NBA more than I'd ever been before. I learned about the current NBA right when Linsanity and the Rockets rebuild happened. I very much like Lin as a person. I'm not sure if his joining the team would have been enough, but Harden coming along and blowing up like that was extremely intriguing, and in looking to see if Lin and Harden would mesh I became a Rockets fan. Learning about the other players when I got on board helped, but clearly Lin was the tractor beam.

Lou is right. It ain't like most of y'all would be Rockets fans if the team were still based out of San Diego. If Houston had been 'blessed' with the 80s/90s Clippers instead, I bet a lot of people here would have better things to do. :)

    You're wrong.

Those posters aren't creative enough to use those letters x, y , and z.

When Patrick Beverly was playing his heart out in the playoffs when Lin was out, I'm with the Rockets fans who admired his play.

If Lin is your favorite player and you understand that the Rockets are a team not a showcase for one player, then you're a clutchfan in my book.

It's not like we gave Lin a 5 year deal.

The season after the next will be his last. Traded or not he won't be in Houston for long.

This house is the house of Clutch
    built for Rockets fans

Lin fans are tenants renting in this house, some of them are rude and unhappy with the accommodations.

Some of them blast the Yoko Ono on speakers and watch reruns of the 2011 knicks all night.

Some of them actually get to know their fellow tenants and realize that this house is special and the furniture is from gallery furniture and that this house..

    it's a DREAM HOME

No, he calls out anyone who defends Lin whether or not they support Bev, Harden, and the rest of our boys.

You're not answering the big question here:

Why are they here? A place dedicated to the great Rocket fans?

They are here cause they have an agenda, to turn all topics about team into Lin discussion board.

At least the Yao Fans made their own website after some of them got sick and tired of people talking about what really happens on the court.

There are a bunch of Lin fans walking around toyota center at the knicks game, even some of them in my tundra suite.

but they went to the game to see their favorite player play.

Why are they on a website that's not solely dedicated to their favorite player?

Lin is not Phil Collins and the Rockets aren't Genesis.

But the Lin fans keep yelling "TAKE A LOOK AT ME NOW"

But we know "IT'S JUST AN EMPTY SPACE"

Perhaps you should give them a taste your mind and tell them IRL the same thing your telling Lin fans on this forum, to **** off.

    At the Lin premiere,
Lin liked my question more than he liked the LOFs questions.

I can separate the player Jeremy, from the legion of followers.

Excellent post! In the end, more fans--regardless of their affiliation--is a good thing.

Also, some people seem to be tricked by the more obnoxious "Lin fans" as they really seem to be trolls that just pretend to be fans.

I don't agree with Lou at all.
Nothing is wrong with more Rockets fans, but if more fans join who don't care about the Rockets, it makes it harder for fans to look for Rockets material.

Kevin McHale did help the Rockets get to playoffs, which hasn't happened in a while.
Rockets fans in general are happy about this, but if you go on Clutchfans a portion of fans wanted him fired for the sake of not playing their favorite player enough.

It skews reality. The reality is that Kevin McHale did a fine job in coaching pretty much a brand new team.
