    Thank you.

I made my own thread as a response to the ridiculousness of this thread.

Sorry to nuke you again after--in the other thread--you said D Mo is looking good with his big muscles AND haters hated Kevin Martin because of his small muscles. Don't judge a dude by his muscles? Or do?

Anyway that's pretty trivializing to compare Lin with Jackie Robinson. (Oh and the whole Nazi thing. . . .) Will we hear Rosa Parks mentioned again? Did we again forget that Lin is not the first Asian on this team? Shouldn't Lin be compared to the second African-American who played on the Dodgers?

Rox 23, throughout this thread and the big muscle/small muscle thread, you claim to know the thoughts of large blocks of people. Obviously you don't actually know: not even you would claim that, would you?

You probably interpret this post as evidence of my hatred for Lin. But no, I just hate crap arguments.

This real fan/fake fan dicussion is so ridiculous. So what if some fans are only fans vis-a-vis one particular player, especially in a league that is so driven by individual players? Are people really so insecure and petty that they feel the need to constantly assert the superiority of their "fandom" simply because they have been following the team longer or don't have a favorite player on the team.

Fans are the lifeblood of a sports team; the more of them they have, the better. More fans means more money and more publicity, which translates into easier team-building and, in some cases, championships. Why wouldn't an influx of fans be welcome even if some leave with Lin (if he does leave)? Is the cleanliness of a message board (which can be fixed very quickly with the ignore function) really that important? As much as the LOF/LOH battles seem to irritate people here, it's effect is minimal in the real world, whereas the addition of more fans is not.

    Lol

And so what if true Rockets fans are tired of Lin fan boys and demonstrate their unhappiness by complaining to the team and the sites so much that now the team looks to trade that player to make the fan base happy. Rocket fans are the life blood of the franchise.

First off, Lin is Asian-American and also the first Asian-American to have any sort of meaningful impact on the NBA because the actual first one played when no one cared about the NBA.

Second, it's called an analogy, not a literal comparison. Most people would agree that Lin's situation is miles from Robinson in terms of personal danger, popular resistance, and overall social impact, but can you really not see the broad similarities?

Ok sure. Let's ask the entire Rockets organization whether they'd just prefer "real Rockets fans" or all the fans they can get.

On a side note, where are you getting the idea that the Rockets tried or are trying to trade Lin because of fanbase unhappiness? This is a genuine question because this is the first I've heard about it.

If Lin leaves, it would mean armageddon and the universe would implode.

    Don't do it Maurley!

Lol how are all fans good? Bandwagons by far ruin sports and their image, no one wants to be associated with them whatsoever. As a rocket fan and as a fan who is a part of one of the few faithful teams i want no part of fake riders. Its different and makes sense if the reason you like a team is because a player drew your attention, but if that player becomes more important then the team, that is where you need to keep it to your self for one and two not gloat about/defend him.

Your first mistake is that you think these fans have the ability of comprehension.

It's like a bunch of walkers in the horse shed.

If Lin were like Jackie Robinson, then there should be racial segregation now, including a separate American basketball league for Asians, separate drinking fountains for Asians, separate seating for Asians, etc. Slavery of Asians should have ended 82 years ago, i.e. in 1931.

To quote you, Lin is "miles from" Robinson in personal danger, popular resistance, and social impact, but still broadly similar. No, I don't see it. Robinson won Rookie of the Year. Robinson served in the army and faced court martial for some back-of-the-bus ****. Lin makes Volvo commercials. Lin went to Harvard. No, I'm not seeing it. Maybe you can make it plain once and for all.

That is because he didn't trade away a Chinese player. Yao retired with love. Trading away an asian player would definitely hurt Rocket's image in china/taiwan/etc.

The only thing this thread has reinforced was how awful this place has gotten.

That's just awful if your main interest is the business, to heck with bandwagons. If a player is a family member/friend then its understandable if you wish to just root him on wherever he ventures.

This poll is assuming that you are a Rockets fan now. This means that the voters are not LOFs.
