    Tinman,

I recall that many Tmac fans followed Tmac to here, and created some kind of problems in this site, but I like them generally as long as they support the Rockets. I was thinking about the same thing about Howard fans, are they going to join us here? Maybe he does not have a big fan base like TMac. Clearly, we did not see many Harden fans from OKC. I think some one should create a thread for Howard fan prediction.

Dwight Howard has been on the Rockets and it's been huge news, however on Clutchfans, the increase in fanbase has not been that huge of a spike.

For Harden I didn't see an increase, same for even Ron Artest a few years back.

The reason for this is that certain players have CULT LIKE followings.
Lin fans spontaneously appeared because of race and immediate short term success.

McGrady fans actually were built by consistent all star appearances and scoring titles.

For all the issues we had from the McGrady fans,

    1. they weren't disrespectful to Clutch and Crew, and other clutchfans
    2. they're delusional about accomplishments but not on talent
    3. they joined Clutchfans because they wanted Tmac to win a championship, so they can get the playoff monkey off their back and have something to say to Kobe fans
    4. they didn't cop out with "HATER" argument, they actually tried arguing basketball accomplishments or what if scenarios

Sure the McGrady fans had issues with Yao, but they were actually equals on the team based on salary, status, and talent.

The Lin fans have been vocal against Harden, who is clearly the better player and more important rocket. Notice there's no talk of trading harden in the media.

I've actually been nice to the Lin fans, yet i've been called racist . I've been giving to the McGrady fans 100000x more, they never resort to anything blindly desperate.

Do I believe some fans will follow the Rockets? yes. Is this the same as the McGrady situation? not at all. When McGrady joined the Rockets, fans expected him to stay for a long time and lead the Rockets to titles.

I don't think the Lin fans feel that way, they wanted him back in New York. McGrady fans didn't want him back in Orlando.

We have Lin fans saying he's on the same importance level as Jordan and Kobe because he has lots of youtube hits.

You tell me your thoughts on them.

Simply put, you are the quintessential LOH.

Most older posters here don't hate Lin. They just hate the obnoxious LOFs. You, sir, are a bona fide LOH.

The thread title alone is a misnomer. If you'd jump ship based on a single player being traded (Lin or anyone else), you are not a "Rockets fan." Period. I'm a huge fan of Paul George, but a Pacers fan I am not. Being a fan of a player and being a fan of a TEAM - good or bad, up or down, notwithstanding the composition of the roster - are two totally different things.

I definitely came here for Lin last year, however I watched every game and loved that Rockets team. Thar being said after Lin left NY I thought I'd continue to like them, but that split up was so bitter that I couldn't root for them.

To me it will come down to how much I like Dwights chemistry with the team. I love Chandler, TJones, DMo, Asik, Beverly and Garcia. Hardens game last year got a bit hard to watch down the stretch when he would punt every game in the 4th. If Dwight is a Diva, and Lin gets traded I may not root for the rockets, most likely I'll stick around though.

I am going to vote No because of tycoonchip. TOH?

But my left brain tells me to vote Yes because of Morey. If Morey is traded, I'll gone. MOF?

I thought I wouldn't be a Rockets fan once Yao retired (or even when T-Mac bit the dust with his last injury) but I was proven wrong.
The 'underdog' status and 'never say die' attitude over the past couple of seasons really made me fall in love with the team. I mean, we've had a complete remake of the roster and even coaching, but I'm still supporting the Rockets!

No player is bigger than the team! Just saying.

People are getting dumber these days.

There is no "we" or "you" in sports. We are all Rockets fans for whatever the reason maybe, we are on the "same team". People could be a rox fan due to Morey as they maybe a follower of his work from MIT. There are millions of reason why one joins this fanbase.

Why should we isolate them? Are we going to discriminate them due to their reason behind joining Rox as a fan? Are we going to go as far as one group of fanbase is better then another?

Haven't we all learnt from our life outside of sports not to discriminate base on XYZ?

    Lock This thread pls.

Rockets fan for 20 years, i like Lin, but I will not trade in my fandom for an slightly above average point guard that received the New York Media hype for 2 weeks when both of the stars on the team were injured. . . .

I'll be a Rockets fan as long as there's a team in Houston. It's more about the pride in one's home than it is the players on the court.

Having said that, I'm really excited about the group we have, including Lin. I think he's going to show some solid improvement this year. He doesn't have to be Linsanity to help us be successful.

I'm a lifetime fan, but I'd be a lot more enthused (real word?) if Lin were traded.

I think Jeremy Lin will be the biggest factor if we FAIL to make the Western Conference Finals.

#1 Lets get this out of the way, Jeremy Lin is NOT in the same UNIVERSE as Jordan, Bryant and Robinson. For you to lump him into that group is insulting.

#2 The analogy of Jordan and Bryant do not work because they were the best players on their teams, they LED their teams and there was no conflict between them doing well and their team doing well. That is not the case with Lin. Last year there were a number of Lin fans that were upset when the Rockets won if Lin didn't get 20 points.

#3 If you are a Lin only fan or a Howard only fan to the DETRIMENT of the Houston Rockets, then you are right, you are not welcome here. This is CLUTCHFANS and not LINFANS.

#4 Your comparison between the situation Jackie Robinson went through and what Lin fans are going through is ignorant and insulting. It is so absurd that I am not going to comment any further on that point other than to say shame on you.
