Let the big man prove his worth before writing him off.... One thing is for SURE.... he's FAR from done. Voting no after 2 preseason games, is pretty lame.
Yeah, and laughing at my melon shaped noggin....and Sam using a cut out of it to fix the BP oil spill. DD
but voting no before the 2 preseason games were ever played is pretty awesome. you guys need to stop with the 2 preseason game stuff. we've had 5 years of history with Yao to suggest injuries are just a bit of a concern. you can disagree with the point...and that's fine...we do so respectfully, usually. but don't think for a minute that what you're hearing from many of us comes simply because of 2 preseason games.
I was not implying you were talking on behalf of the Rockets. But I think that fan reaction over time gets back to the players and to the team. So if you as an "opinion leader" on the board manage to establish a "bad investment/i want it gone" type of thinking, then the player will eventually feel that Rockets fans are not as loyal to him as he might have hoped, and that might have a (small) impact on an eventual decision to re-sign with the Rockets possibly for a bit less than market value.
ok...i've argued about this with Ric a long time back. bottom line: i don't consider my opinion here to be that important. i don't take any of this that seriously. it's a fun diversion for me. i would love to think i had that kind of impact, because i do wish they'd cut the cord and move on. but i really don't think my posts here will move anything in that direction at all.
Yours alone is not, but if all the fans here agreed 100 %, you bet that the Rockets would at least know about it. How much of a factor it would be in their decisions is another question.
I fully understand 5 years worth of injuries are a great concern. But, what good does it do to worry about it now? He's fully healthy and still a Rocket. As fans, lets give him the benefit of the doubt. Everything will play itself out in the end. If he can stay healthy, he'll get paid accordingly, if not, he's in the last year of his contract. Simple as that. So what's the point of this thread right now? Just be patient folks.
i can promise you that DaDa will always ensure that i will not get 100% agreement on any topic in this BBS.
Even limited as he is Yao is worth the 8-10M a year. If he settles for that then I'll offer him a 3 year 24-30M contract if I were DM. If someone else offers him the max I'll let him walk. 20M for an injury prone 30 year old is too much.
Hey, at least you know the law....too bad about your clear lack of basketball knowledge though. BTW - Just saw Bagwell warming up with left handed tosses. DD
That's pretty much how I see it right now assuming that he is going to eventually get back to pre-injury form without any major set backs. Of course you have to wonder if the Rocket's would still be his team of choice assuming there are several teams willing to offer him equal contracts in that range. As for our opinions influencing things, if 100% of us really agreed that Yao or any other player should be gone, then who exactly would be sad if he read it and decided not to come back?
