I'd actually rather give up Martin.

They're both pretty one minded players, which is tons of offense but no defense. Brooks is a tad bit younger. I feel like it would be more of a drop off from Brooks to Lowry than Martin to Lee. I like Lowry a lot, but I just think in this offense, we'd be better served to have a guy shooting with some range.

I feel like Martin is the more easily replaceable one. I like Lee a lot, he has no weakness in his offensive game off the ball. If we were to include Brooks, who would our backup PG be then?

The beauty of this dilemma is that our team can send out either or even both players and still be in a great position to compete!

There going to want Martin and brooks. If Cd was still running this team the deal would have been done all ready. The down side is that we would have gotten raped.

Who ever takes melo is going to have to eat one of there bad contracts along with taking him.

If you cant get equal value the next best thing is to lower the over all value of the package and make the team who is desperate for the star player pay the same price.

Laughable. Surely you can't be serious.

    PER
    Brooks 16.4
    Lowry 15.5

    PER
    Martin 17.0
    Lee 12.8

Maybe you were referring to Lee Marvin and Dean Martin? That's all I can figure.

Denver would want KM.They allready have a great PG in Billups so KM would make more sense.

PER is horrible for defensive ratings. Lee from what I've heard is a great defender. He has no weakness in his game.

Hahahah, sure. I assume he'll be signed to a $6 million per year contract extension soon too - since he's better than Lowry.

Lee has alot of weaknesses in his game. He has no primeter or mid-range game, his handles are suspect and his offensive awarnesses is not great.

So then it must really underrate Lowry and overrate Brooks.

He's also not very good (like Brooks) at getting to the line, whereas Lowry is among the very best in the league.

Brooks, this shouldnt even be a discussion.

Due to his physical and skill limitation, brooks can never be a CP3 or DWill.
You can 't rely on a non tradional PG as your franchise player.

He shot 40% on 3 pt fg's his rookie year! He was down to 33% with NJ, but come on he was on NJ, so he had to create his own shot. He wouldn't have to do that with us, and we should see a big boost in efficiency.

    Well, let's see.

Kevin Martin plays about 2/3 of the games in a given year.

Aaron Brooks plays about 3/3 of the games in a given year.

    Trade Martin, keep Brooks.

IF you had to give up both (not saying we will or should, but TNT, ABC, and ESPN are going to start pulling the plug on Denver when they trade Melo, so Denver will have a steep asking price to staunch the bleeding), then Ty Lawson better be coming back in the deal.

I'd say you have to trade Brooks, but the Rockets entire focus would simply become scoring more points than the other team, not trying to limit the other teams scoring. There are not many teams who have won the championship like that.

True, I'll give you that, which is a big reason why Lowry's PER is so high, despite shooting 40% last year from the field and 27% from 3 pt fg's.

I really REALLY like Lowry, he brings a lot of toughness and energy much needed. But... there's a reason Brooks is our starting PG. I feel like Lowry is a lil bit overrated on this board.

I agree, Brooks should be the one to go.
I'm just reluctant because I honestly don't think Ishmael Smith will be a suitable back-up for Lowry.

EX. Aaron Brooks + Jared Jeffries + Shane Battier (BO by Denver) + Chase Budinger + Jordan Hill + NY Pick for Carmelo Anthony

    Lowry/???
    Martin/Lee
    Anthony/ Battier
    Scola/Patterson
    Yao/Miller

    Billups/Lawson
    Brooks/Smith
    Harrington/Budinger
    Martin/Hill
    Nene/Andersen
