I highly doubt Morey would ever give up Kmart for Melo.

Assets can be easily obtained in this league as Morey has shown. But stars are so much more harder to come by. Morey would trade everything except Yao and Scola and Kmart for Melo.

Who needs a bench anyways? Miami Heat has shown us ... depth is overrated.

Yeah but brooks has the ability to create his own shot off the dribble, Martin has to get his within the system using picks, which makes brooks more irreplaceable having that skill set gives him a higher ceiling.

That's why Martin's been known to disappear at the end of games, while brooks has shown he's capable of closing games.

Have you even watched them play? It doesn't matter if he was 25ppg on a losing team like the Kings. Martin gets his points by playing within the offense. He will get those point if he's playing on any team with a team oriented offesne (aka. Adelman's).

Brooks will be good in different situations but i only see him as a scorer and nothing else. He can't defend, and he can't make plays. He's a scorer, and I get that he's very good and a borderline allstar but compared to Martin? One of the most efficient scorers in the NBA? CF has too much homerism. Yipee, Brooks is a product of Morey, that HAS to make him better than Martin right? Of course not.

Which ever one it takes to get the deal done, but not both of them at the same time. Unless we get something else besides Carmello Anthony also to offset that loss like a Chauncy Billups.

I think no one should be intimated by them until they play a NBA game. They have the best talent on paper no doubt, but no one will know how they will play together until they do.

You gotta ask yourself, who are you more comfortable with starting? Lowry at PG or Lee at SG? I personally would have to go with Lee so I would be more comfortable dealing Martin because Melo can easily replace his numbers and and Lee-Melo combo would be a deadly offensive defensive combo.

Plus, we wouldn't have to sell the farm if we gave up Martin because he is paid more.

    Martin
    Budinger
    Harris
    Johnson
    Hill
    Jeffries
    2012 pick

    for

    Melo
    Smith

    Brooks/Lowry
    Lee/Smith
    Melo/Battier
    Scola/Patterson
    Yao/Miller

    Thats my ideal trade scenario.

So you feel a player who's more useful for maybe 5% of the time(crunch time of a close game) is less replaceable than a player who's better 95% of the time(non-crunch time or blowouts)?

Of course, this doesn't even factor in the most relevant aspect of the discussion, that we'd have Carmelo Anthony to close out games. Who do you think gets the ball in a close game? Melo? Or Brooks?

Oh God, please not JR Smith. Replace him with Arron Afflalo and replace Jefferies, Budinger with Battier and I would agree.

I wouldn't mind having JR Smith if it netted us Melo.

brooks is our best player and he has ice in his veins. I am emotionally attached to him since he was on our playoff run and was blowing up. martin has already topped out. brooks keeps working and working. i keep brooks.
the guy was the clear cut leader of our team last year.

    brooks brooks brooks brooks brooks

get rid of kmart who literally plays 50 games a year because he always breaks his wrists. why would he need martin's scoring if we have carmelo.

brooks, lee, carmelo, scola and either yao/miller would have no problem scoring. we don't need martin and carmelo

That's a real tough one. I could go with either one. With Brooks and Lee the team will have a better shooting backcourt to surround Yao/Melo and we wouldn't have to look for a backup PG. Also JT gets some time to improve his game more. That's why I voted Brooks.

BUT I might take that back right know cause I'm a little more on Martin's side right now. With Lowry, Martin, Melo and Yao that would probably be the best starting lineup in the whole league at drawing fouls. THough Ish Smith wouldn't cut it as a backup behind Lowry cause we would need a PG that could shoot off the bench.

Actually I take my vote for Brooks back completely. Especially if we could get a good PG that can shoot the 3 to play behind Lowry or start. Would much rather have Martin.

Biggest drawback off keeping Martin over Brooks though is knowing that Martin probably will be injured at some point in the season. Brooks is much more durable.

Couldn't agree more. Assuming Brooks and Martin are going to be on the court for the same number of games I'd rather keep Martin but that is a big assumption with Martin's history. Factoring in Martin's susceptibility to injuries I'd say its a toss up.
