First of all, it's pretty funny that you took that post as a personal insult. Second, if posting the same three or four things over and over again passes as constructive, you and tinman must in a two-man race for the BBS' Lifetime Achievement Award in Constructive Discussion. Third, I'm pretty sure I have to put your twitter feed in my sig to be eligible for membership in the anti-DD Fraternity
I know many of you guys pick Martin to give up, I say Brooks. My reason is because both are pretty good scorers, Martin is a much better scorer and much more efficient. Brooks is a good and up coming PG in this league but Martin is harder to replace than Brooks. The Rockets are able to go out and trade for another scoring PG but there aren't many high efficient scoring SG in the NBA in Kevin Martin. With Martin alongside Melo, the Rockets can move Lowry to the starting point in which Lowry can take over Brooks starting spot easily.
OMGWTF, you created Von Cerbrooksbudingerus. It has a first step like a cheetah, and a second step like an even faster cheetah.
Perhaps this is the crux of why we generally have fundamental differences. I crave another ring for the Rockets but never at the expense of rooting for players for whom I can take no vicarious pride. For example, if Kobe Bryant were a Rocket, I would be a Spurs fan. Winning is not so important if it mean sacrificing pride and principle.
Denver probably will want Martin too. They have Billups and Ty Lawson already. I actually think Martin might make them better.
If Morey was to package Martin and Brooks for a Melo, I'd rather have Lawson be included instead of Billups. Billups is declining while Lawson is a rising star.
In my opinion, I would rather give up Brooks. We already have Kyle Lowry signed to big money and a starting five of Lowry, Martin, Carmello, Scola and Yao is just flat out dangerous. If we give up Martin, we get weaker at the 2 without a legit replacement. Lee is nice and all, but he's not K-Mart. Can anyone imagine Martin and Melo in the same rotation? They would put up 50 a night.
DD, despite your distaste for tracy, your statement about tracy getting his,but not making teammates better is beyond stupidity. There are probably 3 or 4 players in the league who couldve led the rockets to 50 wins when yao went down for 30 games a few yrs back. Just because he went out like a female at the end, at least be truthful. In regards to carmello and your misguided ideals, anthony is a superstar. His scoring alone makes him elite. Now, i dont think the rockets can get him,but he has taken his team to the playoffs every year despite missing nene, martin, camby and other for long periods of time.
Here's why you give up Kevin Martin. You're gonna have to play the Lakers in the playoffs, and they are the team to beat. If you give up Aaron Brooks, you are giving up our biggest advantage against them. Kobe matches up well with Kevin Martin, and Ron Ron matches well with Melo. Their two best defensive players match up with our two best wing offensive players. we still have the advantage at C, but with Aaron Brooks, we would have a huge matchup advantage over the Lakers.
Brooks isn't making 20M a year. A max contract isn't something to scoff at, your max player should be able to equate 40% of your team's total cap on the floor. Melo in a vacuum would make this team better, but at what price? There's no way you can convince me a below-average defender, average rebounder, no 3 pt volume scorer is gonna put up elite production when you have both Yao and Scola in the paint.
Sure you can. The go-to scorer should still be able to score efficiently even with other guys on him...that's why he's a go-to scorer! This separates the AI from true superstars like MJ. The thing that cracks me up though is the Nuggets aren't exactly a weak team, they're stacked with a lot of other good scorers like Billups and Smith. If Melo can only put up Brooks-esque efficiency on such a good team, why the hell does he deserve 20M a year, and why the hell would getting him suddenly make us contenders? On paper and NBA2K, perhaps.
Complete nonsense. Go-to scorers should be able to score so efficiently against single coverage that defenses are forced to send double/triple teams. And when that happens, the go-to scorer should pass to the open shooter. Remember Paxon's 3? Kerr's jumper?
What? You have Carmelo who is a career .54 TS% and Brent Barry who is a career .60 TS%. Carmelo takes every bailout shot for every broken play. Carmelo scores on isolations against double teams. Brent Barry takes open 3s. Brent Barry is technically the more efficient offensive player, yet if he was taking the same shots as Carmelo his TS% would be sub .40. Thus Carmelo is by far the superior offensive player. And in this case TS% is misleading. What's the argument?
I haven't read all the posts, had to get my opinion out and of course my first post so be easy on me fellas!* People will argue that AB brings us Mismatches with LA, and other teams, but we are not trying to build to beat just one team, we build to have the best chance against any team night after night.* AB is one of our most valued assets, but we just signed Lowry to his new deal, he can start anywhere else in the NBA, why not have him as our starter?* Keeping Martin gives us his offensive skill, stints of Defense and partnered up with Melo, can anyone say in the Bonus? Cause that's what we will be doing, getting to the line early. Big 3 is in.* Celtics,Lakers,Miami,Orlando... Etc. They all have 3 all-stars these are the heavyweights, some. Yao,Melo,Martin even if we can't get more than 25 mins from Yao, Yao is Yao! Nuggets aren't going to go completely to "rebuild mode" they will go through what we went through when we gave Tmac up except without all the Drama, thankfully. Billups will stay there unless he wants out, he has been a great mentor for Ty Lawson.* They lose melo, but dont forget they just signed Harrington to a 5yr deal. Birdman has the longest contract after Harrington with 4yrs, 3yrs for Balkman, then comes billups 2yrs.* I can easily see a three team deal with us getting carmelo and prob a birdman or balkman, but hopefully we get a sg or sf in return. Billups being the other piece moved to the third party for maybe a young sg/sf second round pick perhaps.* Jeffries, Battier, Budinger, Brooks, NY picks, TE,and maybe JT as a sweetener. That's what I see us loosing in any sort of trade.* We would be stacked I wouldn't see one hole in our line up lee is working on his handling this off season, looking to be playing the PG a lot more efficiently this season so he can be backing up Lowry.* I just honestly don't see a reason why morey would move KMoney.* Your opinions?
