5th seed i guess. We get HCA and the Blazers are also missing Wes Matthews. Also, if we win and play Warriors. I can see Mchale putting Nick Johnson since Terry will get burned so bad at the beginning of game 1 against Curry, thus no choice but to put in Nick to slow down Curry.

Don't we want the 6th to avoid GS until the WCF?

Or am I not getting something here...

5th seed is the easier route, I guess.

But really, just get smart, Rockets, and weather any strategy opponents can throw at you. My God, even the most loyal in the fanbase are getting embarrassed by you.

So 5th is the highest we can get to at this point, right?

Think we get HCA even though we're 5th seed...because we have a better W/L than POR? idk.

5th. 6th pretty much guarantee's a matchup with the Spurs in the 1st or 2nd round. Rather play GSW

Not sure why you did not mention LA Clippers as a likely opponent if we were 6th seed. If both San Antonio and LA Clippers win out, which is quite possible, then SA will be 2nd and LA will be 3rd.

Stopped temporarily at 'Spurs and Memphis are beatable'

Sure so are the Warriors but the matchup is a horrible one.

The only matchup I am confident about would be the Suns(not in the playoffs), Nola, perhaps Mavs.

No offense, but you have to be insane to want the 6th seed. Yes, Golden State is a brutal 2nd round opponent, but that presumes that the Rockets are actually in the 2nd round to begin with. If we wind up the 6th seed, that ain't happening. You really think we're gonna beat the Clippers or Spurs in Round 1 without homecourt?

The 5th seed is by far the preferable outcome. We'd have homecourt advantage over a Portland team racked by injuries as bad as we are. They may not even have Afflalo available til Game 3 or 4 in that series. Imagine the field day Harden will have.

Despite loosing B2B to the Spurs , the rockets proven they are tough to beat .

With McHale home court advantage is meaningless , usually the game's plan and adjustment start with game 3-4 of many playoff series

It can still happen. The Rockets have to win out(which they needed to do anyway, even if they had won last night), the Grizzlies need to lose at Golden State on Monday, and the Spurs need to lose at New Orleans(who could be playing for the 8th seed) on Wednesday.

the team names are slightly juggled, but your post could have been typed essentially the same in each of the 3 previous seasons as well. we have collapsed in epic fashion to end the season 4 yrs in a row now.

That's what i'm hoping for. I wouldn't sleep on the Suns pulling an upset of the Spurs tomorrow night.

I wouldn't mind playing the Spurs in the 1st round. They're getting way too much respect based on prior seasons. You guys wouldn't be so scared if the Rockets had won last night. Pop and his hack-a-Smith strategy will bite him in the playoffs. The Spurs would have to contend with Dwight for 30+ minutes too, which would be a huge problem for them. Harden isn't going to go 0-8 again this season in the 3rd quarter. Spurs lucked out last night.

I would be less afraid of them had they either have Duncan or Kawhi on the injury list for at least 2 months.

Or at least have them in really bad shape.

Their team is too consistent and they need one of their key players playing really out of funk.
