    You bet.

I'd rather build around Kirilenko and Yao than Steve and Yao. Much smarter. Plus the trade exceptions, (2 players or 1 star) plus we keep Cuttino who is Steve lite with a better shot, plus we get a point guard, plus a pick.

How could you prefer steve? He just isn't that valuable. He's ok. Just not as smart as AK.

    Yao Cato
    Taylor Cato
    Kirilenko Jax
    Cuttino A Griff
    Ward Lopez

+ the exceptions . We could land SAR, Boozer, who knows. That team is pretty solid, with Yao and AK helping each other, (and everyone else) and Cuttino would get the green light to score like crazy.

Can JVG handle the assignment? Sloan would tear it up with that team.

With AK, Cato, and Yao in the floor, no one would even think of going inside on us. AK is already everything we wanted Griffin to be.

I'd do it in 2 seconds if it was offered, but it ain't, so it's all moot.

AK is a good player, but you would have to be on crack to think that's a good deal.

cwebbster is obviously Chris Webber of the Kings. Think about it -- as an NBA star, he has access to inside info, he's still on IR, so he has time to post, and he can't spell his own name! :p

annthuyn: Please post more pictures of yourself with your favorite cute NBA stars. Or better, forget the NBA stars. ;)

I'd do it, but why would Utah?

would AK fill the role of a small forward?

uhm...i think that if this trade went through, we would thoroughly regret it. Even the Francis haters would miss him when it came down to it.

...I wasnt on the bbs last season, was the francis hating still rampant then? Or has it sprung up to the poor transition to the new system by stevie?

...oh yeah, and AK would need to do something with his hair.

I'd consider it as is. add one first round pick and i'd strongly consider it. add two first round picks and I wouldn't even blink.

I honestly think AK47 is going to get better and better and when the oppurtunity presents itself to trade small for big you've got to consider it.

think of the defence and the rebounding our team would have. we can use our trade exception to bring in a point guard. hopefully brent barry.

    yao
    cato-mo
    ak-jj
    cat-griff
    barry-lopez

I'd do this trade AK, Lopez, 1st round pick for SF and change. I would then maybe think about trading MoT plus the exception to Atl for SAR. I am not sure if that would get you SAR, I know that Atl has talked about blowing their team up. MoT can score well in the low block and makes less $$$. Plus, the trade exception give cap flexiblity.

How is AK47's on the ball D? I know he's a ball hawk and good weakside blocker, but what about defending his man straight up?

If he is solid in that aspect as well, the Rockets with AK47 could well be the best defensive team in a long time.

he is 6'10", has long arms and is as fast and quick as a guard. the jazz throw this guy on everybody from duncan to kg to kobe.

and considering that not since bill russell's '67 celtics was there a team that held their opponents FG% below 40%, i would say that we are already one of the best defencive teams to come around.

if we made this trade and picked up a defencive minded PG like B.Barry we would be one of the best EVER.

Never thought I said this, but I would do it

Steve is very talented and we pay him appropriately for that until JVG enters the picture. Under JVG's system, Steve's role has been reduced. He is now simply a role player. I don't think he's happy about it and I don't think the Rockets is happy about it either (especially about paying max for a role player.)

In JVG's system, we don't need the old Steve to win. We need a PG that focus on distributing the ball (look at the last game, Steve shot 1/11 and yet we won by 18; partly due to his 12 assists... if you reduce his 7 TO, it would have been more than a blow out.)

IMO, whether or not AK+Lopez > Steve+Pike isn't that important. Question is would AK+Lopez fit into our system more than Steve (forget even about Pike.) I think AK+Lopez fit into our system better and the extra cap room is a big bonus.

Without commenting on the deal yet, I was wondering one crucial thing... why the hell would Sloan want Francis??

The Jazz will never take Francise or Mobley. It's against their religion!:D

On the other hand, if you substitute Francis with Yao, Utah would jump on it, but the Rockets woun't do it. :D

So he can be the 2 that DeShawn Stevenson should have been?

I can't think of why the Jazz do this, and I'd be hesitant to pull the trigger on the original trade. Get back our pick and their pick while we're at it, and it's a done deal.
