ak > francis. I look at shooting %,and hustle, and smarts, rebounding, intangibles, relative passing skills for the position player, and blocks, steals. Ak wins in every single category. Oh yeah, cheaper also.

Fine, you don't want to get Harpring in the deal, then be that way :D

Shows how much I know about the cap. I try and follow it all, but alas, why even try when you are the master.

Though, I don't think it is as common sense unattractive as some. Would have to think long and hard as Kirlinko still has some growing pains from the more or less no-show against us to helping lead Utah to the win versus Dallas tonight.

Lets just say that I work over at the Toyota center. My friend has done some secretarial work in the Front Office for maybe over a year or so now. So he hears rumors and stuff that probably may or may not mean anything big. Another thing is, our parents, both me and my friend, have worked with Dawson in the past. So we hear a few things from our parents every now and then. Thats all I can say right now, but not to guaruntee anything, it may or may not be true.

Well, if we're holding out for Harpring... :)

I like AK and Harpring alot but in many respects they are products of Sloan's system and I seriously question what position AK would play under JVG. IMO, they are both SF's and Sloan sets alot of back picks, base line screens and weak side picks to free them up. Radically different from JVG or RT.

I was reluctant to post in here at all because IMHO the best thing to do is to wait until the summer to evaluate the Rockets.

The cap stuff gets sticky. If you'd have backed up a step though, you'd have remembered they were able to eat Rice's $9.5m before they waived him. But then again, you were focused on obtaining Harpring! ;)

I'd do this trade in a second. However, I wouldn't do it if I were in the Jazz's shoes. Steve would probably hate Salt Lake City so much that he would go Marbury on them. Kirilenko is going to be a star player in this league for many years. If I were the Jazz, I'd deal Arroyo and Harpring for a good shooting guard and power forward.

Throw in their pick and you've got a deal.

    Yao/Cato
    MoT/Cato
    Kirilenko
    Mobley
    Lopez/Wilks

I'd immediately turn around and trade the first exception and the exception we'd get in this deal for a PG.

Lopez and Kirilenko probably make around 3M combined. Francis makes around 10M, but I think he'll be valued at 5M due to BYC status, and Pike is around 2.5. Meaning 7.5-3=4.5M trade exception. So the 6.9M TE plus the 4.5TE is a combined 11.4M.

Am I mistaken here, or does this work out? We could even use the exceptions seperately to get some parts. Basically, we can add to the roster with 2 trade exceptions, the MLE, and Utah's pick. That line-up, plus three very good players definitely could put us in contention for a top 4 spot. I mean, imagine we arrange McDyess vis sign n trade, Ward via minimum, Brent Barry via MLE, and then we'd also have a pick? That would be incredible.

Sending Steve to utah is the same as telling him, "We Hate You."
They might as well tell him that utah really wants Pike and that Steve is just a throw in.

Yes that would put us in contention and it would mean that the Team would be rebuilt during the tenure of JVG. The Coach would have a Team with many experienced players loyal to him. The idea of using the exceptions in this manner would certainly strengthen the Rockets. The only contention I would have with Sane is that I would avoid players with long history of injury but if McDyess would go for the vets. minimum [unlike Rice]then he would be acceptable. If we were able to put both exceptions together which star would we shoot for?

I would seriously consider this deal. I love Kirlenko's game. It all depends on what else is thrown in.
