If they keep protecting him and stuff keeps happening, they will be the ones that will do the majority of the dying, which is precisely my point.

If you cannot understand why he did what he did, why do you rush to judge?

I, for one, cannot begin to fathom the profound hate and anger that must drive his behavior. He is a rational, brilliant man, who's seen the West and obviously is passionate enough about his fellow Muslims to go to such extremes. I'm not a Muslim, but all I can say is that we ought to look into the depth of this hatred, and look for first causes.

    Quoting "Silence of the Lambs":
Hannibal Lecter: First principles, Clarice. Read Marcus Aurelius. Of each particular thing ask: what is it in itself? What is its nature? What does he do, this man you seek?
    Clarice Starling: He kills women...
Hannibal Lecter: No! That is incidental. What is the first and principal thing he does, what need does he serve by killing?
Clarice Starling: Anger, social resentment, sexual frustration...
    Hannibal Lecter: No, he covets.

In this case... what characterizes OBL? I think the worst I can say about him is that "he cares"... And unfortunately I think that is also what most of the Muslim world thinks...

I would like to know what your criteria for killing someone is. Is OBL on your list because he is behind the killing of 3000 Americans?

Is it the high number (3000) of victims that puts him on your list?
If so, what's the minimum number of people that you have to kill to get on your personal death list?

Is it that they are Americans?
If so, if OBL killed the same number of Africans or South Americans, would he still be on your list?

If you could single out an individual to be held accountable for genocides in Rwanda, Dafur, Slovenia, Cambodia, Chile in the 70's, would they be on your personal death list too?

To all of the killers who answered yes, what is your criteria for being personally willing to kill someone (that doesn't threaten you or your family directly)?

I wouldn't hesitate to put a bullet through his head.

I just wish it was done already when we had our chance.

You could say that love for his people and religion has driven OBL to do the things he's done. But he's killing our people. He's also killing Muslims living in America and Europe. He took partial credit for Zarqawi's bloodbath in Iraq.

I hope the average Muslim can distinguish his love for a twisted Islam to their own.

I also don't support the death penalty but I would kill Bin Laden. We are at war with this man and his ideology. If capturing him isn't an option, I feel it would be my responsibility to my country to kill this man if I had the opportunity.

I think it is evident Bin Laden would not hesitate to kill every single one us given the opportunity. I don't believe this war will ultimately be won with our military but not dealing with this man in the harshest and most final of terms speaks volumes to our enemies. In the spirit of JFK, we must be idealists without illusions.

this post fired me up enough to respond....

the criteria for killing someone is if one kills an innocent person on purpose. I would kill OBL and sleep well at night too.

1, only if a person kills an innocent person on purpose.

    yes.

yeah, if they killed innocent people on purpose to push a bad cause.

this is where you have to play the what if game white lightning. what if some of your relatives were on one of those flights? Would you kill OBL then? You need to look through the eyes of the people that WERE affected DIRECTLY, because it COULD HAVE been YOU or YOUR RELATIVES!

Do you think the Al Queda animals would suddenly change their mind about crashing a plane if they knew some of the passengers on the planes were related to you? Of course not.

I can agree with that I just don't know whether I would personally have it in me to kill someone. If it was a clear cut case of him with a gun aiming at me and me with a gun maybe yes since that is self-defense but if I'm looking at him through a scope and I have to shoot him in cold blood? I don't know.

Let me ask the board this question especially those who voted they could and would.

What is the worst that you have ever physically hurt somebody and how did it make you feel? Now imagine that instead of just hurting them you've killed them and deprived their friends and family a loved one. Is that something that you would feel good about even if you knew that person was a bad person and you were justified?

knowing that the osama is probably directly or indirectly devising plans to kill more people for the sake of his "jihad" i would not hesitate to pull the trigger. many people ask if i could sleep at night soundly after killing a man, but i ask you..can you sleep at night knowing that you let a mass murderer (past and most likely future also) go?

^ i'm not saying that anyone who says they could and would kill Osama Bin Ladin are bad people I'm just saying I don't know whether I could kill someone and wouldn't know until I was in that situation.

Does this mean you personally would kill anyone who purposefully killed an innocent person?

This thread is about personal criteria for killing someone. If the above is your only criteria, then you have thousands of people on your death list.

I'm not arguing about whether or not OBL or anybody like him deserves to die. I dont think this thread is about does OBL deserve to die (is it?). It's about would you kill him? What I want to know is, if you would kill him, who else would you kill?

You are right that this is a what if game. I'm trying to get people who would kill OBL to tell me what it takes to get on their personal hit list. You are saying you would kill anyone who purposefully killed an innocent person. Thank you for answering the question.

 I'm shocked this poll is this close. What would it have been 5 years ago???

25 million or no money I would put a bullet in his head without thinking twice and having 0 remorse for a second and never for the rest of my life.

Personally I hope they catch him have an execution in time square than scatter his ashes across afghanistan

how bout we all get along, no killing, no evil thoughts. Lets all just let the US work it out. And no i would not kill ODBL, but i agree with some of you that he should be humiliated in public for the rest of his life or just punched at random.

The reward money isn't even part of the hypothetical question. I wonder how many would still be willing to Kill OBL if there were NO reward money involved. I think I would, but as Sishir points up none of us would really know until we came to that moment in time...

    were you there?

Surely if there were any truth to that the US media/government propaganda machine would be all over it like a rash getting us to believe it.

Although, maybe it's not a bad idea to let the commoners live in fear

problem is we live in fear of the wrong agenda.
