Hopefully they'l both opt out and sign for cheaper so we can upgrade our bench. That's what the spurs stars would do I wish we were more like the spurs.
That's even better. Go all in with that core for 2 seasons. If it doesn't work you have a 31 year old Bosh and 26 year old harden and lots of cap room
Good points from you both. I'm no expert in player dynamics - draft, trades, FA or otherwise. I just can't believe that we will be stuck with all of these negatives: an inferior roster to go along with inferior coaching/inferior defense and NOW inferior management. What's left, fat cheerleaders and a skinny clutch bear?
You're right in your outlook, you always have to remain optimistic. That being said, its also important to be realistic about what has happened and what will happen, holding the right people accountable through it all.
Personally I think management has been bad for a very long time. This mentality of chasing superstars and all-stars is not a recent development under Morey. Les has been doing this since the Clyde trade. And while that one worked, the Barkley one had lesser returns. Pippen was a bust. Francis was a bust. T-Mac was limited to regular season wins only. And so far Harden and Howard haven't paid any dividends. The lone success story in this nearly 20 year stretch was Ron Artest and he only lasted here one season. And let's not forget some of the truly horrific free agent signings and draft choices over the years. There are too many to recount here, but think back to the Rudy days all the way til now and it's painful to look back at how many terrible personnel moves this organization has made. Declining that option on Parsons is just the latest and could potentially cost them one of their few successful draft picks in recent years. As for what's left if Parsons walks and Bosh returns to Miami? Nothing. At best, we're first round fodder. Worst case scenario, we're lotto-bound again and the countdown to Dwight's inevitable departure will begin next offseason.
Get the best FA you can in the next 3 days, make Cuban wait until the last possible minute, and then match the offer, keep Parsons.
If u got Bosh - then u pay Parsons, since retaining Parsons allows u to circumvent the cap for talent (even if yer overpaying... its Les' money...) o/w... can we sign and trade? Sign Bosh, then sign and flip Chandler and still go over the cap? I cant believe Marion and VC are gonna get paid 15M COMBINED.... D12/Bosh/Marion/Harden/Bev... with VC as 6th man.... that maybe good for a year or two....
Cry me a river. This is not that tragic, and Parsons is not that good. He worked with our system but so could a lot of players. We can replace him for less...but obviously there are no guarantees.
Parsons is not worth 15 mil. But if you think he wasn't valuable to this team(at least in the regular season), you're kidding yourself. And we're not going to replace his production for less. We'll find someone else to play small forward, of course. But they won't bring what Parsons did. And the worst thing about this is losing him to a division rival. After we already handed Asik to another division rival.
1. Howard and Harden have only been together 1 year. What Dividends have Olkahoma paid Or Pacers? Technically none. I dont see any rings on them either. either you win or you dont. 2. There's still cap space available. We don't HAVE to sign anyone. The free agency next year is even better. Guess what? we build this team, build chemistry just like the Spurs, the Heat, The Thunder all have. Yeah we lose in the first or second round, but either then... 3. ...Harden gets better and Jones gets better. Or the team loses and Mchale gets fired. Then bam? free agency and new coach or not
If not Bosh or Dirk, Rockets should sign Marion, Caron Butler, and Carter then wait 3 days and match Parsons. Then Give Cuban the finger!!!
1) OKC and the Pacers have each made multiple deep playoff runs. At least they're on the cusp of winning titles. The Rockets are coming off a first round defeat and at least at the moment are an inferior team talent-wise than they were 2 months ago. Meanwhile, Dallas, New Orleans, and the Clippers have all gotten better. 2) The free agency is better next season? Who are we going to get in 2015? Aldridge is resigning with the Blazers. Love will likely have been traded by then. 3) Harden gets better? Have you seen him in his last 3 playoff series? He's got a lot to prove next season and the absence of Parsons ain't gonna make things easier for him. As for McHale getting fired if the team loses, I suppose that's a possibility. Then again, he inexplicably survived the Portland defeat so who knows? Plus another first round flameout will create a new headache surrounding the future of Dwight Howard with this franchise. Remember, he can opt out after 2015-16. There's no way he's resigning here for what will be his last big contract and shot at a ring if he's stuck on a perennial playoff loser.
We have to match Dallas We need to for once put up or shut up. Parsons is a huge factor for the success of the Houston Rockets. I'm a bit upset that Cuban has put us in this situation cus he's an ass clown... but who didn't see it coming? Bosh needs to accept our offer or we take it off the table before we need to match the Parsons offer sheet. If we can't accomplish this then we deserve be the 3rd best team in Texas like we've settled for since the mid 90's. Come Rockets it's all in or nothing! The time to strike is now.
