I'd like to see the revenue numbers on the Paris, Las Vegas casino and hotel. I wonder if they have suffered a dip in their margins from this whole French debacle.
That was 2 centuries ago. And not sure how my pointing out that France was imprialistic during the 1900s is relevant to the slavery discussion. I guess you are just looking to pick a fight or attempt to discredit me....whatever... Have a nice day, dude. DD
Who is the non aggressive nation? France? Didn't they have one of the most imperialistic policies of the last century? DD From what I understand, one of the reasons for general French unwillingness to engage in offensive wars now is their history with Napolean (specifically wrt Spain, I believe). It's more fun to ignore that and say "they hate the U.S." though.
Major, I concur. The same can be said of Germany. However, it did not bother them in the least when they asked us to intervene in Kosovo when the UN would not act because Russia threatened to veto. What I don't get is, if they are allies, shouldn't they be working to help get rid of Saddam? The only thing that makes sense in all this is that they all have a conflict of interest in their economic ties to Iraq, which in itself is a violation of the UN sanctions. The UN has lost any credibility it had when it let's things like Ruwanda and the loss of nearly a million people go unchecked. The UN is dysfunctional, and really can not work as each country will only look to further it's own interests. The US included. DD
Uh, 137 years, which you kept pointing out was soooo ancient, so next time someone brings up segregation, I guess that will be considered ancient also.
Actually the US has lost credibility similarly. It's clear to many that freedom of people from genocide, oppression, etc. is only on the US agenda when a secondary strategic interest is involved. That's why there was action in Kosovo and none in Rawanda. That's why we trot out the horrors of Saddam while giving China favored nation trading status and buddy up to the disgusting Saudi and Pakistani regimes. That's the hard cold reality of it and that's why people find it extremely dishonest of this administration to talk about liberating the Iraqi people when we actively support tyrants and dictators as long as they're helping us out.
Segragation is a far different discussion PGabrial. You are picking nits. 138 years ago, by the way, and that makes it not LAST century but TWO centuries ago. Picking nits is fun, huh. DD
God only knows how this turned into a Coming To America quote thread, but I'm not complaining... "YES!! YES!! F*CK YOU TOO!!" Oh, THERE THEY GO! THERE THEY GO! Every time we talk about boxing, some white boy's gotta pull Rocky Marciano outta they ass!! Rocky Marciano was good, but compared to Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano aint SH*T! He kicked Joe Louis' ass! That's right, he did kick his ass! Joe louis was 75 years old when they fought! Joe Louis came out of retirement to fight Rocky Marciano! Joe louis always lied about his age. One time Frank Sinatra came in here and sat down on this chair. I said Frank, you always hanging out with Joe louis. Just between me and you how old is he? You know what Frank said? Joe Lewis is 137 yeas old! 137 years old! Ahh, you ain't never meet no Frank Sinatra. F*CK YOU, F*CK YOU, AND F*CK YOU! , whos next?
