I know I wouldn't say anything against my belief in God (please tell me you didn't just hear a rooster crow). I don't think I'd say anything against my country that I didn't believe. There are plenty of things I could say that I believe that might appease them though.

I doubt any god would hold it against you if you said something to save your life. I can't believe people actually think this.

I agree but I still wouldn't do it. God will not hold it against me and it's debatable as to whether I would benefit from not denying Him, but I just wouldn't. (Revelation talks about those leading during Christ's return that have lost their life because of Him - but leading is not my desire so I'm not to worried about that).

Now if it's my wife or children they are threatening, all bets are off as to what I would and would not say.

    I voted I don't know
    but
    Hope springs Eternal . . .
    I feel as long as I'm Alive. . . I have a shot
whether to repent .. reconvert .. or even be a spy and help the country

    sometimes. . . .
    You have to compromise
Your 1st priority is to stay alive
cause as long as you are alive. . . .
    you can act
    and
as long as you can act
You can potentially help those you know and love.

I just don't see the point. It accomplishes nothing. There is so much you could actually do to live and help people rather than worry about speaking a lie. To me it would be sinful to die over that. And things like this are what make me question christianity etc.

Well, Jesus was on trial and His life was at stake,

All He had to do was lie a little bit and He could have saved Himself. Just one little lie to get off the hook....

He stood up for me (I believe He died for my forgiveness), and it cost Him torture and cruel death, I pray that's exactly what comes to my mind if I am ever in that situtation.

    Well
Jesus knew full well that his death would save untold millions
A gun at your head in a bunker in whereever
    you don't have that foreknowledge

If I were in Jesus's place. . . I could see myself there
    but
if my death would be meaningless .. in the great scheme
I think I may lie so I can do greater things later

Well if that type of twisted thought is what it takes to be a believer, count me out.

Isn't there a ufo behind a comet for you guys to catch somewhere?

Seriously, this train of thought is just a step away from suicide bombings etc. Scary.

I am not volunteering to be a martyr. I am not brave. I am ordinary at best.
I just appreciate what Jesus did and suffered and I hope I don't forget that if the pressure comes to me BECAUSE I am a Christian.

I simply don't understand this at all. I'm sorry but I persoanlly believe that if some wingnut had a gun on my and said renounce Christ as your lord and savior or I will kill you and I said no, I think Jesus himself would go "Dude, what were you thinking? I know what is in your heart. Do what it takes to save yourself and do my work at another time."

I could not denounce my religion. I firmly believe that God wants people who would be willing to die for Him. (Not like blowing themselves up, but martyrs like Steven.) My allegiance to my country is much, much more shallow. I love my country and would die for if called upon. But if I could save my life by denouncing it, I would.

If I were alone, and someone pointed a gun at me and wanted to take me someplace else, I'd assume they were going to kill me and wouldn't go.

I'd either run or fight depending on the situation. But I'd definitely not get into a vehicle of any kind.

    So there ya go!

    No hesitation.
I would lie for the benefit of my wife and child. My family is more important to me than my country every day of the week.

I'm sure God understands that and wouldn't send me to hell because I praised Allah (assuming God even cares who we pray to ...big assumption).

Yup. I would think God would want you to live for him, not die.

is it really necessary to be so condescending to people because they have a different faith perspective?

You're obviously non-religious. So you wouldn't understand the role religion plays in the lives of people who are devout. It matters to us more than anything else.
