Never bynum is a injury prone over rated center i would rather bring back c cato than give away scola to the Lakers.
They wouldn't trade Bynum just for Battier, Brooks, and Hayes. Now, if you were taking Artest off their hands in that deal as well, that might get them talking.
Funny how you say "just" Battier, Brooks, and Hayes... One of the most respected defenders in the league, last years most improved player, and arguably the best low post defender in the NBA. It's not a lopsided deal, but The Lakers could do a lot more with those 3 players than they can do with Bynum and vice versa with The Rockets who are going nowhere and like I said will not find a better center available on the free agent market. And outside of some bizarre sign and trade, they have no bargaining chips at all after the trade deadline. Yao's contract, Jeffries contract, Hayes, Battier, and Brooks all gone after the deadline. Samuel Dalembert Nene' Hilario Tyson Chandler That is what they will be staring at come this summer from the center spot. And YES The Lakers WOULD trade Bynum for "just" Hayes, Battier, and Brooks and would definitely dump Artest if The Rockets threw Jared Jeffries expiring contract back. They would probably give The Rockets 3 draft picks just for being stupid enough for making the deal
There is the possibility of moving Yao/Scola/Jeffries/Hill/Budinger for Bynum/Artest/other expirings/rookie contracts and netting the $17 million TPE from Yao's contract. This would give us Bynum as a $15 million expiring next season along with a $17 TPE to use from Yao's contract. Bynum is a tempting player. Still young, 23, and a super talented low post player on both ends. He's your two way player, folks. If he got healthy, you could catch lightning in a bottle with him. The idea of Artest being washed up is just plain bull. Should he be a primary option offensively???? Nope. But if Bynum was healthy and we've still got Brooks, you'd have three big scoring options in Martin/Bynum/Brooks. Not to mention that $17 million TPE may be enough when combined with some of our other youngsters to get us back a Granger or somebody like that. Bynum is an interesting target.
I like this, gives Scola and Yao a chance at a ring and sets us up very nicely for 2012. How does it work with salaries since we would be giving much more salary to LA?
any trade involving scola for bynum is ridiculous, thats like added a near all-star to their team for nothing. bynum has missed nearly as many games as yao ming over his career. lets give the lakers a work horse who has not missed a game in 4 years for their most injured player in the last decade, pass.......
when he is actually able to stay healthy, yes bynum can do those things. we have patpat already as a backup that has good defense for a rookie and can bang down low. all we need is a center - that will be his job to rebound and play defense. i recall scola being pretty effective when he played next to yao.
Loved reading this post. +Rep... Lowry Martin Artest Chuck Bynum Is championship material. Our defense on the frontline is CRAZY. Chuck is tooooo good to not be a starter. Brooks Lee Battier Patterson Brad Miller Is Nooooice.
I would consider it and have our doctors look at him. Who by now have an extensive history of knowing whether a guy should be injury prone and his whole career after examining him a little. He might start to have less and less injuries after a few years in the league? I guess i would give it a shot if they gave us their first round pick also. 1st rounder and Bynum for Scola.
AFAIK, players who are injury prone at young age.... tend to get worse when older (Yao ant TMac were more injury prone in their youth than in recent time?).... ...I guess it's very rare to se a Benjamin Button case in real life...
From what I see. Trade Scola(hopefully)and maybe some other people as a package for a center (not necessarily Bynum) and start PPat at PF.
