its official - 43.10% of posters are not true rockets fans and 11.55% would apparently jump off a bridge if the people around them did it first. REAL ROCKETS FANS DONT GIVE KUDOS TO ANY JAZZ EVER...NEVER!!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YALL? disgusting. in case it wasnt obvious, my answer to the question is a resounding HELL NO!!!
Classy. Model PG. Showed that 6'1" white guys can still be one of the greats of all time. Would have loved for him to have played for us. (Btw I would never give Karl Malone an ovation if u want a true Jazz player to hate its him and his utter lack of class, wanted barkley to deck him in Game 1 in 97' make him out for the series and have seen rockets v. bulls too bad)
Let me start by saying I absolutely HATE the Jazz, HATE, yes HATE HATE HATE. I would give him a standing O. Why? Because I appreciate him as a player. As a Rocket fan, it makes it so much sweeter to beat guys like this. I'm actually thankful having this rivalry and beating these guys on the way to both championships. Thank about it, Didn't we love hating these guys? Why did we, do we hate them? Because they were great, in our way and yeah pretty damn dirty. But like him or not Stockton played the game right and made the league better. So yeah once again I appreciate what he did as a player and appreciate that he gave us all a reason to hate him. Thank what you will this does not make me a lesser Rocket fan. I will NEVER be a fan of another team, always a Rocket fan period. But now that he is gone, why not give credit where it is due?
Hey, I wouldn't boo or hiss, but I wouldn't applaud. Have to say, though, that he was one of the best ever at his position. I've been watching the first half of the first game of the storied '85-'86 season from time to time on my DVR (from NBA Classic... ticked me off that they only showed the 1st half, dammit!), where the Rox and j*zz opened in Utah, and Akeem, Ralph, McCray, Sweet Lew, and Lucas, along with that amazing bench, made up arguably the most talented team in Rockets history (well, not arguably to me, 'cause they were the best). It was Stock's first game and Malone's first game. Neither started, of course, but while Karla looked like a very talented rook, Stockton played exactly like he always did, right out of the gate. Cold as ice, flawless play. Yes, he's one of those guys you have to hate when you played against him, but would love on your team. Had he not played for Sloan, I think he would have been just as good, but not as dirty on the court. So I'll be one of the first to say he's one of the best points ever to play the game, but I could never give him a standing ovation. Too many painful memories.
wish the poll was public! we need to expose the torries! id like to see this get up to least 50% 'HELL NO' by the end of the day. there arent even 400 votes yet - i think it is statistically possible. get some 'real' rockets fans in here we can get this puppy up to a respectable percentage - the fact that a majority would either ovate or would do it if others would is just shameful and should not...nay, cannot stand! this really makes us look bad as rockets fans and as fans of humanity in general.
Yo, Stockton, I'm really happy for you, and I'ma let you finish, but Michael Jordan was one of the best players of ALL TIME, OF ALL TIME!
Of course I would. He was, arguably, the best PG of my generation. I'm a basketball junkie, and there's no doubt Stockton was one of the greatest guards to ever play the game.
Maybe. We still would have had to beat them in Game 7 ... in Utah. But what a hell of a Finals that could have been. Bulls-Rockets ... definitely one for the ages.
