Exactly, Bibby has a better supporting cast than Francis. Who cares about Terry's pg abilities, he's been a loser.
And Terry's been a loser in the East. Terry is the classic example of a marginal player putting up good numbers on a bad team. Its relaxing to play on a team that never has a shot of being a winner. Every shot he takes is meaningless.
Eh, we've got such a good trading piece in Francis. I wouldn't want to throw him away for anything Atlanta could possibly offer. That place is a pit. Even high draft picks at this point wouldn't be great for this team if we want to win sooner. It's been a while since we had an exciting draft that wasn't the obvious #1 pick. If you get something around 10 then you always have a shot to make a killing. Even after everything draftwise that's happened the last few years, I still would trust CD or Rudy or whoever to make a good decision. Heck, we're still discussing Badaine. That means alot of people still think we're competent drafting good players late.
We rag on Houston's attendence alot, so is it that Francis isn't really that big of a draw or is it just the city? Losing for 4 years can't help. I suppose in Atlanta they'd be thrilled to get a player like Francis. Because they're so god awful.
After looking at this trade proposal, falling on the sword and accepting Grant Hill anchor along with grand prize T-Mac and Dwight Gooden for SF3, Mobley and Cato and whoever looks acceptable (except Yao). PG -- Jim Jackson, backup Wilks SG -- Tracy McGrady, backup A.Griffin SF -- Bostjan Nachbar, backup Pike . . . . . (or the return of Grant from his tomb) PF -- Gooden, backup Mo-T C -- Yao Ming, backup Mo-T . . . . .and a Euro center (Slavko Vranes)
Jason Terry reminds me a lot of Sam Cassell. He’s got a great mid-range jumper like Sam. He’s not a pure point guard, but he does not make many mistakes with the ball because he doesn’t try to force the action like Francis. I think if you give Terry a good supporting cast and a great big man like Yao, we could see something similar to what Cassell did this past season. Diaw really didn’t do anything this past season, but he’s still young. Could end up being a contributor one day. Crawford would be a great bench player. The 17th pick might end up being pretty good in the future. This draft isn’t a top heavy draft like last season, but it is a fairly deep draft. A lot of young high schoolers and international players entering. A player picked with the 17th pick could have as much potential as the 5th pick. I prefer going after Mcgrady first, but if they can’t get that done, this wouldn’t be THAT bad a trade.
Looking at his numbers, I don't see anything that exciting about Terrys ballhandling skills; he had one good year two years ago with 7 assists and 3 to's, but other than that he looks pretty pedestrian averaging 5 and 3 most years; not exactly stocktonesque. Considering that we're upset with Francis' 6 and 3.5, I fail to see how his pg skills are that much more established.
Interesting trade mrgoubople1. If we didn't have such a glaring need for an upgrade at the PF position, I'd have to take a long look at your proposal. However, I'm of the opinion that Atlanta wouldn't make that trade. By the way, unless Atlanta were to draft a player of our choosing at #17 & trade his rights to us on (or after) draft day, they wouldn't be able to send us their lottery protected pick next year, as well. The CBA doesn't allow a team to trade consecutive future #1 picks away.
