I would trade anyone and I think I've been clear about that, but I wouldn't do that deal and ny doesn't need a cash cow. If I were to trade yao which I can't really see happening, I have to get some guys that can play now and some players.

If I were to trade Yao, it would be sleeping with the enemy because he's either going to portland or La. Reason being, they have young bigs that can play now that aren't statues either.

Yao to portland for Oden,Pryzbilla, fernandez and a lotto protected 1. Why? Oden is a shotblocker rebounder that will be a 11ppg 11rebs 2blks guy who don't need the ball or plays setup for him. Pryzbilla is the consummate backup and has a good value with his toughness and interior defense. Rudy could be the next petrovich. 2 young guys under 24 and the 30 yr old vet.

Yao for Bynum, walton, and lotto protected 1. Not asking for as much because if he's healthy, bynum is a all star. He doesn't stay restricted to the post, runs the court, and just turned 22. He's signed for 11m per over the next 5 yrs and even then he will be 27. Walton is the heady, versitile guy. I think he could do more if given the chance, he makes 3-4 mil and can play multiple spot.

The downside to both the trades is you have helped a rival, but the key is you've gotten a good players that are younger and a draft pick. I doubt they would do it though.

So, you want us to trade Yao for absolutely nothing since draft picks are not guaranteed to be stars and not even a top 3 pick at that. There is no GM in the world who would trade a player like Yao and get no star player in return it is just ludicrous. Sounds like a Yao hater to me.

The only trade I accept that is kinda even likely to work is this.

To be honest...it might actually work...this means for us, time to go get Lebron AND possibly Bosh or at least Stoudemire. What it means for the Heat is keeping Wade happy + Yao...wow.

Also, it's not a huge gamble for the Heat because if Yao doesn't work out then Wade is already signed to an extension + Yao comes off the books the following year.

    Win win.

It is win win win win win win for the heat and lose lose lose lose lose lose for the Rockets.

That trade makes even less sense than OP's trade and OP's thread was god awful.

I'll pass on trading Yao, rather just let his contract expire and have money to play with in 2011.

So, you're telling me that having over 40 million coming off the books with Tmac and J O Neal, doesn't make sense? You mean to tell me that having the ability to add both Lebron AND Bosh to Brooks, Ariza, Battier, Scola, Landry, Budinger, Lowry, and Hayes makes NO sense?

What really makes no sense is to add a hurt Yao Ming to a running and gunning team with little cap space for improvement and just HOPE that he can stay healthy now.

For which side is this not even? I mean, The Heat have no way to sign both Wade this off season and another superstar on the level of Bosh or Lebron currently. We would be giving them the best option available to keep Wade happy and not have to go sign a possible bust to multiple years.

For us it means we are the #1 place for Lebron + we'd still have cap space to sign another star or a couple really good veterans to add to our young team.

Also, might I add that my trade proposal actually gives us a starting center. You know, we may need one of those sometime this season.

True but the league was different then and what he said holds true in TODAY'S NBA. One superstar surrounded by role players will not win a championship in TODAY'S NBA.

If I'm trading Yao to another team (which I wouldn't), I'm looking at a team with a decent young, cheap center that can play against the bigs of Portland and LA. Like Brook Lopez. Lopez isn't the best yet, but he shows potential, and I think he'd soar under the tutelage of Adelman.

So, for me it'd be Yao to Jersey for Lopez, a 2010 unprotected pick (they're getting a cash cow, you know, so they might do the unprotected pick), Bobby Simmons, and possibly Courtney Lee.

I'd get an adequate-with-upside replacement for Yao, a possible starter at the 2 with Lee, and massive caproom in the neighborhood of 25 million minus cap holds. That should allow us to lure Bosh (as a PF and small-ball center) and possibly a Joe Johnson-type, if Wade and Lebron decline.

Depending on the cap holds and who we can get in FA, I'm not sure Scola would be here still. His cap hold would be too high at 6mil to sign two FA. Lowry, I think, we can get for cheap.

    Think about this lineup:

PG Brooks, Lowry, our 2010 pick
    SG Joe Johnson, Lee, Taylor
    SF Ariza, Battier, Budinger
PF Bosh, Landry (if we can't keep Scola), Anderson
    C Lopez, Hayes, Nets pick

I just think that lineup is sick, and I'm not sure that New Jersey wouldn't go for it, although it'd be a stretch.

    Any thoughts?

While that trade technically works you are only getting EITHER Joe Johnson or Bosh in free agency. MAYBE, if Scola can still be had cheap, you can resign Scola and Landry. Otherwise, you will have to let go of one.

    Lineup would be more like:

    Brooks, Lowry
    Joe Johnson, Courtney Lee
    Ariza, Battier, Budinger
    Scola or Landry?, Hayes
    Lopez, Anderson

I don't think I like that lineup really.

Also, there's no way The Nets give away their pick unprotected.
