It will be a very long time until we see someone like Kobe Bryant. He's shown many signs of greatness and he's still only 22.

He's got 5 years of NBA experience and he's still younger than our young guys. It's amazing to think he's still younger than our own Steve Francis.

After saying all of this there's NO chance we can ever get close to getting him. I'm just tired of ppl constantly bashing him for being a bad chemistry guy. I think the whole Shaq/Kobe situation has been blown way out of proportion, mainly b/c they're in a large market like LA.

Alot of TALENTED people under perform. That's a fact. You certainly don't improve your talent by living the lifestyle JR has lived. If he had Kobe's work ethic, he prolly would be on a par with Kobe.

How do you gauge talent in basketball? do you record the guy's ups or would you want to see them play in a game?

What I mean by talent is pure physical talent. JR could shoot. Jr could dribble. JR could defend.....if he wanted to. I personally think he is very talented.

Do I think he's a good player ? Not anymore. But, a few years ago, he put up very good numbers.

all i got to say is that Kobe sucks, i hate kobe, kobe is a ball hogger, Kobe is all that the Rockets arent. Francis and Mobely would hate kobe. Kobe is also overrated. I mean, anyone could jack up 30 shots a game and average 30 points. If he cant get along with the "Zen" master, what makes you think he can get along with Rudy T. or any other coaches?

The Rockets do not need Kobe!!

next time I'll be more specific instead of saying just talent...I'd add "(not talent as in raw athletic ability but talent as in he's got game talent)"...happy? [IMG]

Kobe has more assists than Cat because Kobe has Shaq on his team. Anyone playing with Shaq must have pathetic passing skills if they don't average at least 5 assists, esp. with the way that the refs won't call Shaq for charging.

How valid IS the argument that Kobe is a "ballhog?" Yeah, the guy shoots the ball a hell of a lot--but he makes a higher percentage of them than Mobley does. I mean, let's think about this:

Kobe averages roughly 22 attempts per game.
Cat averages roughly 15 attempts per game.
Mo averages roughly 12 attempts per game.

If Mo & Cat are gone, I don't think Kobe's going to be taking shots away from everyone.

I think you have to look at it this way--of COURSE the guy shoots a lot in L.A.--who else is going to shoot in L.A., besides Shaq? If you were as talented offensively as Kobe (not to mention able to nail 46% of your shots), would you be getting excited about setting up shots for Mark Madsen? L.A. is a team that has some GOOD role players--but nothing I'd call a real offensive THREAT game in and game out like Kobe and Shaq.

I would do that deal in a second. But there is no way L.A. is that stupid.

This one was a great post. The thought of having Webber,Francis, and Kobe on the same team will get alot of feed back.

I think we're squared away. I meant that if JR was serious about his game, he could be a very good player. I didn't say better then Kobe though.

Kobe, great player, but I just don't like him. He's cocky, but he has every right to be. Would I want him on the Rockets ? Yeah I probably would.

Probably give up Shandon in a heartbeat for Kobe. SA may be happier there..

chen_zhen, Rider has a **** load of talent also, and I wouldn't want him anywhere near this team.

Okay, I'm tired of fantasizing about Kobe on the Rockets. Now, let's fantasize about Garnett on the Rockets. I'd rather trade for him using the same conditions of the original proposal. We trade for Garnett, sign Webber, & draft, with our remaining 2 #1 picks, the best available centers. We then shift Francis over to the SG & bring Moochie in as the starting PG.

    C: Dream/Collier/2 #1 draft picks
    PF: Webber/KT
    SF: Garnett/Langhi
    SG: Francis/???
    PG: Moochie/Colson

Notice that there is no sign of Cato/Walt in that line up. [IMG]

Once again, I love to dream. [IMG]

From all I have seen and read about Kobe, I think he is not immature at all. He is just different from most other NBA players. He knows what he wants. In road trips, he usually stays in the hotel room and reads. That is one reason why he doesn't have a buddy-buddy relationship with teammates.

I think he is perfectly mature as a person. He says all the right things in front of the media. He plays for himself, not so much for the fans, definitely not for the league or for the coach. As for the team, he probably feels that it is just another product of NBA economy. Look at how many "team players" verbally fire back at their old teams after leaving. He is just not the type of player team-loyal fans will love. He may change into a team player one day, but I wouldn't call it maturity. That is just a change of character or mentality. He is a perfectly mature player looking for self-realization more than anything else. He won't be too interested in self-sacrifice for team glory until he feels that he feels he has reached his apex. Until then, he will appear as selfish as ever.

To all you guys who think CHEMISTRY is soooooo important. Let me splain it to you real sloooowwww.

    W-I-N-N-I-N-G builds good chemistry.

Since this trade would make the Rockets MUCH better, especially defensively, you would be a moron not to do it.

How much did our chemistry get us this year....let's see, did it get us into the playoffs? No....hmmmm, did it get us some respect around the league...no....hmmmmm.

Ok, sarcasm over.....look the trade would make the Rockets better, and Steve would have 2 more years to find a new best friend, and I am willing to bet that he would take winning CONSISTENTLY over this dow-jones up and down crap that he deals with now.

Cato and Cat for Kobe and a scrub would make me a VERY..VERY happy fan.

Did their "lack of chemistry" hurt them from winning it all?
