Mark would gladly give his left nut for Carmelo. Although, he has his franchise player at the 3 spot so I don't know. For teams going nowhere or stuck in mediocrity, hey, go for it!
Carmelo is fully recovered from his surgery as he showed in preseason and his game is not based on athleticism so it will age well 100%. Paul Pierce is 38 and he got Washington to the second round on his own basically.
This is a pretty extreme view. But.. I agree 100%. I didn't like the fact that we tried to sign Carmelo as a free agent. Now that we have Lawson and Harden (both guys that are ball dominant offensive players that are not as good as defense) I would like Carmelo even less. I wouldn't want Carmelo on the Rockets if he paid us to play here.
why? Since Ainge is already planning and has all the assets to form a next big three? Houston and Chicago won't be the only options on his list if he decides to cut bait with the Knicks. Though from what he has said on social media and his aggresiveness to fans and media it will be far too much of ironic to demand a trade and he will be probably destroyed by the NY media.
Like I said. Why would we trade the farm for that cancer when he had the chance to come here as an FA. Screw Melo.
I personally like Carmelo and think he'd look better actually playing with good players around him like the Olympics. That said, there's no feasible way to get him without gutting the rotation. I'd rather just wait until December and try to trade for Markieff Morris if we think we need another big
Melo to Boston is a complete mismatch. He isn't a number one option anymore, even if still is, he is on the wrong side of 30 and is more like Dwight Howard at this point, ie nice to have, as long as he maintains. I doubt Boston even wants him. And why would he want to go there? They aren't a contender even with him.
who would have thought people would refuse a carmelo anthony trade due to the unwillingness to give up clint capela LOL
I rarely am in the don't turn quarters in a dollar boat, but I just don't like the fit. We don't need scoring, our depth is important to wear down other teams, and Melo is too is driven. Harden can already do iso when needed, so Melo is redundant. I'd trade all those players for some type of upgrade we need (boogie or bosh flier at pf would be incredible) but not for melo.
I have to think that Morey would laugh out loud at the thought of trading Capela for Melo. The idea that the Rockets would give up a bunch of other stuff as well? Absurd... Put a fork in Melo. He's done. (and he was never that good to begin with. He's one of the most overrated athletes in sports)
Add another. Back when he was an FA, I lamented that we were chasing him and rejoiced when we were turned down. He might be a talented player, but I don't think he increases your chances of winning. That is not where I want salary cap dollars spent.
