If Yao fans really think so, they won't want T-Mac. So your claim
    is totally lame.

If Orlando would throw in Howard, Gooden, or DeClerq, the Rox need to take it. Getting a PG and PF with our MLE and TE won't be difficult at all.

i can almost see us missing the playoffs to next year w/o a major trade, unless yao really develops or we get better players in the system. We barely made it this year. You can count on other teams to imporve.

There are certain risks in any deal...

    any deal.

Steve and Cat have their value...
I loved Rudy... but we move on

There is no way I would pass up Tmac or Kobe or Duncan or Garnett given an opportunity

    That is the short list.

    Those are the elite.

I would trade Steve plus any combination that doesn't include Yao for Tmac.

And I would trade Yao straight up for Tmac.

It's all about the championship and getting there we need one of those elite guys to build around.

    Yao and Tmac
    or
    Steve and Tmac

Take your pick, Tmac would be awesome in a Rocket uni

Well, who is it precisely that you're talking to? Some people are saying the trade would create too many holes, some are doubting T-Mac's skills and/or fit, and some are questioning his back. If you're talking to the first subset, fine, but those aren't the only objections out there.

I certainly agree with what you say. But you seem to ignore an excellent point you tacitly make yourself: A non-deal is as risky as a deal. Not trading is also a gamble. Remember (assuming the rumor was true) we refused to trade Griffin for Rashard Lewis two years ago? Trading Griffin away would be a gamble. But so was NOT trading him.

Trading Francis+Mobley+Cato away is certainly a gamble. But so is keeping them.

Pull the trigger. It doesn't matter if they throw in the guy that cleans jock straps...., pull the damn trigger. How can anyone pass up Yao and Tmac?

    I wouldn't do it.

People complain about Francis' shot attempts and taking too many shots from Yao as it is, but want McGrady instead. That makes no sense. McGrady led the league in shots per 48 minutes, Francis isn't even in the top 50.

His health is also a major issue. As good as he is if he's on the bench in street clothes he isn't really helping the team any. But that's something for the trainers to look at and decide on.

The last consideration is that he's a free agent after this season, so we could trade for him and he walk or demand a trade from us after one year unless we get him to resign for a longer term.

A deal for Francis and McGrady I would consider, but giving up more players for anybody else from their team would be I wouldn't do. Especially if he demands a trade, that would take all leverage from Orlando in what they can demand from another team.

I think overall we'd be better off looking for an upgrade at PF and a backcourt player to come off the bench to add energy and run the team. Or since we know Kobe is leaving LA try to work out a sign and trade with LA, I would do Francis+Mobley+Cato for Kobe in a heartbeat. He's been to the finals and has proven he knows how to win, McGrady hasn't proven anymore than Francis has at this point.

There has been a lot of talk about Howard/Gooden (personally I prefer Gooden, as he is young and better defensively) but I think the deal breaker is whether or not we can pull Gaines in the deal.

If they throw in Gaines, I do the deal in a heartbeat.

Hold up stop the presses. Why do we want to sell our soul? If we do this trade i bet anyone on this board money that we dont make the playoffs next year. Have we also forgotten that TMac is prone to injury and has chronic back problems? I mean when he's on he's on but do you want to take a chance on giving away three starters and having TMac miss 30 games next year? Very Bad Idea imo.

To be fair, T-Mac always stated that he does not want to take so many shots. He was basiccaly forced to do it because nobody else could do a damn thing for his team. TMac is in the mold of KG and TDuncan..........in spite of their immense talent, they are unselfish to a fault. I trully believe Tmac hates to lose and just like the rising Lebron, he will give up the ball if his team mates step up but he can also carry you when nobody steps up. I will do this deal because the positives are more than the potential minuses.

His back is an issue for me. I believe our doctors will do all they can to see if it is going to be a long term problem. Interesting the same back does not bother 28 other teams that would take him if they can.

In all, I would feel better with giving Yao and Tmac the max than Yao and Stevie. Yao still has somethings to prove but Tmac does not. Stevie in all fairness is not a max player. This money issue is a big one for me because our team has mismanaged funds lately. This deal will go a long way in correcting them by moving either Cato or Motay along with Francis.
