I agree. But Battier may be our best peace to get a nice center. Who else do we have that other teams would want beside AB and Scola? I know we could trade a few others but who would get us a nice center?
Why do I get the feeling that in a ClutchFans pickup game, Battier would be that guy who's always picked last?
That's actually not a bad thread topic, what 4 rockets would u pick as part of your team, and why? I'm guessing it's been done before though
This is such a short term trade idea. The Rockets ain't gonna do much this season anyways. With Yao coming back next season, Przybilla, would be an expensive back up. The real plan would be just stick to the guys we have and wait for Yao and maybe a good free agent and a decent draft pick and we are good to go for next season.
I am not disagreeing with you about this season getting someone like Pryzbilla, but I would take Morey's analysis about Yao with a grain of salt. Alexander won't make moves anytime soon to shore up the Rockets frontcourt. We're at best getting Jeff Foster or stuck with Andersen. Yao is injury prone, it's time to move away from Yao and McGrady and time for the Rockets to look towards building a new time...but it won't happen.
Why would Portland do this trade? Oden is not capable of playing more than 20-25 minutes a game. Pryzbilla is extremely important to them.
i think you misunderstood one of my posts, i'm against getting someone like Prz this year if it means giving up a rotational player. I'm actually for getting someone like a jeff foster (maybe not him exactly), meaning a big who can contribute but is attainable through a smaller trade. He'll help us win more ths year and won't be a waste of space/salary next year.

rasho is even slower than Yao and is not great enough on the boards and blocks to overcome his lack of speed....thats getting a big body just to fill space, which may end up hurting us more.
umm... that might be one of the dumbest comments i've read. THIS YEAR: 28 pts, 12 rebounds, 50%fg, gets to the line 13.5 times a game, and has a PER of 32. and his team is 5-4. the only thing overrated about him is his defense, which can definitely improve. however, he's playing with a bunch of softies himself so it's hard to do anything defensively for that team. but he's been the best offensive PF this year BAR NONE.
We'll see how far his team gets this year. He has had a difficult time even MAKING the playoffs in the East. He's soft and I wouldn't wan him on this team if it meant giving up 5 guys.
chris bosh is a franchise player on the offensive end. that's not even an argument. he has bulked up this past offseason and you can see it in his 13.5 free throw attempts a game. even if he cools down, he'll still put up 25 and 10. the only thing that should concern all of us is his defense. however, when you play on a bad team like the raptors (they don't have ANY defensive-minded players at all), it's hard to judge a guy like chris bosh. he wants to win so i'm sure if he was on a team like ours, he would increase his defensive intensity. obviously, you don't trade for anybody if it meant giving up 5 guys. but he is a franchise player and to get those kinds of guys, you have to give up at least 2 of your rotational players. i would be willing to part with either luis or landry (not both), shane, and one other rotational player. you have to understand, we're not going to rob anybody like the lakers did with pau gasol. we have to give up a lot to get a star player.
Is he a franchise player? I find that hard to believe considering he is not even able to take his team to the payoffs. I would think a franchise player would have that ability. Do you think Kevin Martin or Al Jefferson are franchise players too?
you do remember he took his team to the playoffs 2 years ago right? last year was just a bad year all-around. kmart and al jefferson can't even get their teams to win 30% of the games consistently, so hence they're not franchise players.
actually he's been to the playoffs TWICE. nevertheless, it doesn't matter what i think. GMs think he's a franchise player. why? because he's going to get the max. and like i said, he's been the best offensive power forward this year bar none. you may not think he's that good, but i bet you morey would trade 2 to 3 of his rotational players for bosh.
