Would you consider tanking?

    Perhaps you didn't hear the news, Yao is done for the season, if not longer.

    If we win just enough to make the playoffs, our highest draft pick in years will be taken by Sacramento Kings to full the Artest/Greene draft pick obligation.

    The Rockets tank to keep the highest draft pick, since Yao Ming.

    Why try to make the playoffs as an 8th seed, and lose in the 1st round to the Spurs or Lakers? Then, they give the highest draft pick since 2002 to the Sacramento Kings.

    I want to keep our draft pick. :(

    We have our 2010 draft pick no matter what. Sac only got our 2009 pick.

    Tell that to the Spurs. I don't know if losers have 4 rings.

    If we tanked properly the last time we were a lottery team, Brandon Roy would be a rocket and Mac wouldve already been traded.

    Yao Ming needs to pull a David Robinson. Next year's draft is heavy with PFs. We can copy the Spurs-Twin Towers.

    No way we should tank. At most, we put our chins up, take the blows as they come throughout the season, and continue to develop our young talent and explore the best possible trade options for our franchise. Until a move that makes sense/works presents itself, if I'm Adelman you tell this team that this year is not lost and we must continue to work and improve talent wise on the court

    PG = Brooks / Lowry
    SG = Ariza / Barry
    SF = Battier
    PF = Scolandry
    C = Hayes / Dorsey

    Who in Hell needs to tank?

    I don't mind tanking, but the Rockets better do an all-out tank. not one of these 38-44 season type tanks.

    This is what you get when you build your team around 2 frail stars.

    If Yao's injuries are indeed true, this team is cooked in the short term.

    If we can manage to wrangle Ariza, I can't wait for that first Ariza/Artest battle next season

    Uh, no.

    And I'm not hoping or wanting Yao Ming to return in 2010 and be good. I'm not putting any hope and faith in 2010 or any other season for Yao Ming or Tracy McGrady. It's nothing personal. I have no problem with either of them, but putting faith in those two starts to hurt after a while, so no more.

    Now that doesn't mean I don't want them both back healthy and well, and possibly playing for us, sure, but am I counting on it? No. Do I want Yao to be a pivotal, necessary piece for the future? No.

    No more unnecessary pain. But no giving up, either!

    Sure let's tank, we won't win a championship anyway why not just full tank mode and get a high draft.

    I really fear being a mediocre team. Id much rather be a 20 win team or 50+ win team vs. a 30-40 win team.

    I personally hope we can pull a Spurs and reload via one lottery season.

    it's too bad there aren't any Tim Duncans in next year's draft. i doubt there is anyone that can potentially be MVP caliber in one or two seasons? we're not talking about demoralizing the current team for an inknown commodity like Adam Morrison. i still haven't given up. there's an outside chance that Yao could come back after surgery and rehab by the all-star break or at least one month before the playoffs. T-Mac just might come back like the 2007/2008 version, or even last year's version but with less pain. what are the odds that those two can last 40 games (including 2-4 rounds of the playoffs) without breaking down? Scola and Brooks could have their best seasons. and Morey as disappointing of an offseason he has had, could still pull something out of his sleeve, although i have no idea what he could do at this point. the Rockets still need a center so badly. Dorsey isn't it. i hope Scola's not the new undersized center, and Landry the new undersized PF.
