I truly believe Fitz arm is getting worse, which is hard to believe. Those dying ducks he was throwing out there were horrendous. He's not accurate either. He is just a nothing. It just time to see what we have in Mallet or Savage.
Even though tonight's loss it wasn't Fitzpatrick's fault. I still think Fitzpatrick is not good to make plays and to trust him to win big games. He's nothing but a decent back up QB. If they are going no where with Fitzpatrick, then might as well start playing Mallet and see what they can get from him. DO IT NOW.
I am not watching another Texan's game with Fitzzle as the starting QB. Let me know when Mallet starts. It is not ALL on him, but he is one of the most uninspiring, marginally skilled players I have ever seen at the professional level. He actually looks and performs like a flag football QB. I am serious. I really believe that most posters in this forum can throw the football further and with more accuracy than he can.
http://fivethirtyeight.com/datalab/nfl-week-7-elo-ratings-and-playoff-odds/ And that's not counting this week's loss
Idk, I feel like they wouldn't have traded for mallat if they didn't intend on playing him at some point. I like Fitz, he's just not a playmaker. We aren't strong enough on D or on the Oline to have success with a game manager. I'm worried we don't suck enough to get one of the top QBs... And if we do, I'm worried they'll go with an offinsive lineman or linebacker in stead of a QB. Expect Mariota, Winston, Hundley and Petty to go fairly high depending on who has what picks.
What happened when Brady was inserted into the lineup back in the day? How has Romo panned out since being inserted into the starting lineup? How about Mr. Big Ben when he got his first start at qb once both the starter and his backup went down? There are plenty success stories in the NFL at the quarterback position. So why can't the Texans have their own success story at QB Remii? Why do we have to look at things half full bro? I mean yes Case wasn't one of those stories but whoes to say Mallet can't be?
Judging by what Brady did in college _ he probably should have been a much higher pick. Big Ben was a 1st round pick... Romo _ could just be dumb luck. Mallet may have success _ or he could be on the verge of going on a cocaine binge. But like I said before. He just got here before the season started _ he had no off-season work here so he may need some time before he's ready to go out there... I think we will see him at some point though.
I've seen all the games now. I still want Mallett to get 2-3 series a game. It will help make a predictable offense a bit more dynamic, and again, Fitz isn't the kind of guy that needs to establish a rhythm to ensure he's in sync. With that said, these losses aren't on Fitzpatrick. He seems fine to me. Better than expected. He's not the one fumbling the ball. If you're blindly calling for his job you're either the typical fan that wants the backup QB in or you aren't putting the blame on the right players/coaching staff.
Fitzpatrick has been... OK. If the defense is playing well, if the rest of the team isn't turning it over or committing dumb penalties or falling asleep on special teams... he's perfectly fine. Having said that - and I mean no offense: I hope he breaks his arm and is out for the season. I know *exactly* what I'm going to get with Fitzpatrick. I'd much rather watch Mallet sink or swim; it makes an otherwise forgettable season bearable. If there’s some chance he might be the answer… it drastically changes the direction of this franchise. That gamble, to me, so massively outweighs Ryan Fitzpatrick being average while we win 6-8 games. Who cares? It’s like the… 2010 Astros all over again – sure, Wandy Rodriguez is a serviceably decent MLB starting pitcher – but who cares? I’d much rather watch Jared Cosart get his feet wet.

This is exactly right. You know you're getting guaranteed mediocrity with Fitz, and that is not going to get this team anywhere. The team should be aiming to see what they have in their other players to see if anyone can help them win. An example of another team doing this now is Washington. That team needs RG3 back, and while Colt is probably not a good interim answer, they've seen enough of Cousins to know he definitely isn't, so they are going to see what Colt can do.
Two differences: 1. Cousins was playing worse than Fitz 2. They probably saw Colt do well in practice. We don't know what mallet is doing
It makes me sick that Fitz gets all the plays even when he is playing like ***** like last night. Fitz is very over rated next game I would love to see savage start. Owner is gonna have to step in again like he did last yr and demand savage to start next game or Fitz will get all the plays. If I were the 2nd string qb on Texans after the season I would asked to be released. Texans coaches pick one qb and roll with him for 99% of the plays even if he is suicking and 2nd and 3rd string qb get no playing time. Give 2nd and 3rd string guys more playing time already
Actually... I'd argue Washington is doing it wrong, too. McCoy is every bit a "what's the point?" guy as Fitzpatrick. They're far better off letting the much younger Cousins play out the string. I mean... if Mallet were to fall on his face after 6-7 games, would anyone want to see Fitzpatrick again? (Or, as we saw last year, Schaub over Keenum?)
The whole, "I know what I get with Fitzpatrick" argument is a bit strange here for me... for one, Fitz has us in games we can win. Fumbles and other miscues are costing us the wins. That's why he's still playing. Second, Mallett isn't good, he's never been good. BoB sees it in practice, heard it from his buddies in the Pats organization and saw it in college. Just because you haven't seen him wont make him good. That's the strangest logic... just put James Casey in a QB then, we've never seen him do it, maybe he'll be good? Maybe Tina Thompson wants to try? What the hell? Mallett isn't good. Everyone knows it. Fitzpatrick is keeping us in games, we're losing because of mistakes. Don't like Obama? ****, I've never seen Kiko Alonso in the role of President, let's try it?
